So you think that this book will be worth more down the line than right before a movie with Venom? I've been thinking about selling my slabbed 9.4. Considering the "low" grade, would I be better off holding it for years or getting rid of it closer to the movie? Assume that I don't need the cash immediately.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:That's cause you broke one of the ZWH Cardinal Rules: NEVER SELL ANYTHING less than 25 years old, unless it's 'the new hot flava' (Nyx #3, ex)mrwoogieman wrote:Dang, those ASM 300s make the CGC 9.6 I sold Nov or Dec last year for $191 look cheap!

Spidey Bad Guy?
Where did you hear Sandman was the next baddie to be in the movie? Just curious. I was really hoping for Venom........This might be a strech, but some buddies and I were discussing who would be the actor we would cast in the role of Eddie Brock.......and I came up with Triple H, (I know, I know, he's not really an "actor") But give him a buzzcut and maybe........who knows!?

A friend who works with Raimi's company, he says it should be in the trades soon.darkknight919 wrote:Where did you hear Sandman was the next baddie to be in the movie? Just curious. Think about it....what was Batman #155 guiding for in 1991? What does it guide for now?
Ok, granted, it might do a BIT better than it otherwise normally would, given the flick, but it's already got such a strong, strong base of value, it's not going away any time soon.
I mean, yes, if you can FLIP and make $$ in the short term, do it....but if you want a good long term...you can't beat Spidey #300. I think I have 5 or 6 copies.
But...here's what I think on this...Spidey #300 appears to be the very first mainstream book from the 80's to elevate itself to 'couple hundred bucks' status and maintain that value. It hasn't lost any steam, as far as I can see, in the last 10 years. This is a marked change from 'hot books' of the 80's and 90's.
Remember how 1st Wolvie and 1st Punny went through the ROOF in 1989-1991...?
And remained there?
I think this is the first 80's book that's going to do that.

Several sources, and here's a couple I found right away:DawgPhan wrote:where did you hear that venom was the next bad guy in Spidey 3? I tend to agree, but the thing that scares me with any Marvel or DC book of the 80s and early 90s (non variants) is the large print runs and the fact that they are common in high grade. This means I'll have to hope that the hobby brings in a steady stream of new blood over the years for the books to appreciate. I don't have too much faith that the big companies will succeed as things like the internet and video games become more popular to youth and middle age folks.
Are there any sites that list failry accuarte print runs of Marvel and DC books?

It seems like this stonedude guy is looking for a lot of PITT stuff, and some other people seem to be interested in the post-Image issues too.

$20 for quarter books? Ok, look, #33 may be 'the last issue', but it's one of the earliest cancelled series, and is NOT RARE.

818rucker put in a $10 bid on the 14th, which showed as the 0.01 opener. Sousaserio came along on the 15th and bid it up to $2 by doing bid after bid, but 818rucker still had the high bid. On the 17th, sousa decided he really wanted these books and kept entering bid after bid until he finally beat rucker and won the auction.

you guys are the best collection of snipers in the market. Just reading your posts and observing has saved me huge sums of money. Now I will bid the starting bid (like KC ) so the seller don't wise up and pull the listing, then I wait in the wings like the rest of you cut-throats I NEVER bid when I see one of you on it... I had those 2 Q&W tpb for 5 days on watch and one of you caught on - so instead of wasting both of our time and money , I walked awaywhetteon wrote:must be the poor mans snipe.davidb wrote:818rucker put in a $10 bid on the 14th, which showed as the 0.01 opener. If that first guy had bid 99 cents then waited, he would have had that auction for 2 bucks.

This is interesting in the fact that either a) the ebay market is oversaturated and "deals" no longer exsist or b) the comics are overprice and we'd expect a "correction" in the next year or so.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:The problem, of course, is that EVERYONE is getting snipe-wise....
...and stuff that sits at $5 all 7 days ends up at $150...NO JOKE...in the last 5 seconds.
Just gives me false hope when I see a goodie for cheap, thass all.
Haven't been able to win anything really cool in a WHILE.

Here's some recent auctions for variants:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6521092336
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6521093538
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6521094966
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6521098291
Of note is that the third auction has that Secret City Saga #0 Red that some of you have been talking about.
(And the strange thing is, I hardly see that Shadowhawk variant up on eBay--at least in the past couple months. I've seen the one from SHADOWHAWK II, but not that one.)
