Early Ultraverse/Genesis Character Appearances

Post by Chiclo »

As a part of my checklist, I am wanting to include books by the Malibu-related publishers like Eternity, Amazing, Adventure, Pied Piper et. al. that featured characters that were featured prominently in Ultraverse and Genesis books.

On the Ultraverse side of things, the only book I really know of are the Shuriken books which I think I have all of.

There are a bunch more Genesis books, though. Ex-Mutants hopped publishers a bunch of times. Dinosaurs for Hire ran for a while under the Eternity banner and Miss Fury of the Protectors had a few books from Adventure.

Is there any I'm missing? Any that I am misinformed and they don't actually exist?

My checklist so far:

Dinosaurs for Hire (Eternity) 1 - 9, Fall Classic
Ex-Mutants vol. 1 (Eternity) 1 (Amazing) 2 - 5, (Pied Piper) 6 - 8, (Eternity) Annual 1, 40 page reprints of 6 and 7
Ex-Mutants Shattered Earth Chronicles vol. 2 (Eternity) 1 - 15
Ex-Mutants (Eternity) Winter Special
Solo Ex-Mutants (Eternity) 1 - 6
Ex-Mutants Erin (Pied Piper) 1
Ex-Mutants Pin-Up Book (Eternity) 1
Ex-Mutants Special Edition (Amazing) 1
Ex-Mutants Volume 1 Shattered Earth TPB (Eternity)
The Original Ex-Mutants Gods or Men TPB (Eternity)
Miss Fury (Adventure) 1 - 4, 1 Special Edition
The New Humans v1 (Pied Piper) 1 - 3
The New Humans v2 (Eternity) 1 - 15, Annual 1
Shattered Earth (Eternity) 1 - 9
Shuriken (Victory) 1 - 8
Shuriken (Eternity) 1 - 6
Blade of Shuriken (Eternity) 1 - 5
Shuriken Hellbender (Eternity) 1
Shuriken Team-Up (Eternity) 1
Shuriken Cold Steel (Eternity) 1 - 6
Shuriken (Blackthorne) TPB, HC
Wild Knights: the Shattered Earth Chronicles (Eternity) 1 - 10

Edit - how does it look now?

Ex-Mutants Vol.1 #1 was published by Eternity, not Amazing, they switched to Amazing with issue #2.

Ex-Mutants Vol. 2 was sub-titled "The Shattered Earth Chronicles", it lasted 15 issues. They dropped the sub-title with #13.

Did you find any evidence of there being a variant cover of Ex-Mutants Vol.2 #1? I didn't see a picture of it at either Mile High or Lone Star.

Let me do some checking but stick needles in my eyes if I am wrong... I think that a large number of "The Protectors" are from the WWII days.

I'll check...

The Protectors (or maybe the characters in the series) did appear in a bunch of Golden Age Comics.

THANK YOU, BRO J! Again you have directly helped me! That Ex-Mutants info is exactly what I was looking for and makes everything make more sense now.

I am pretty sure that I mistook Shattered Earth Chronicles 1 for a variant of vol. 1 #1.

Combination of Mile High comics and my own backissues.

I've got a good chunk of these already.

Have you got issue numbers as far as how long these books lasted? Are there annuals with them? Do you have information about the publishers?

Thanks for the info!

The list has been updated.

That's interesting stuff, Doorman. Someday I am going to make an Eternity checklist.
