Lubbock Comic Book Expo! May 2nd

Post by Chiclo »

To coincide with Free Comic Book Day, Lubbock is hosting it's second annual comic book show.

I can't find any advertised famous guests, so I may be the most famous person there. Will Terrell, who colours the Gargoyles comic by SLG, will probably be there again since he lives in Lubbock. And that guy that drew a funky Grendel sketch for me last year for $3. At least Denver had Ethan Van Sciver's brother - how he got top billing over Mike Baron I'll never know.

Anyway, here's the link:

A wise man once said "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in your rearview mirror". Ironically, they named the street the Civic Center is on after him and that's where the convention is being held this year.

Small show, but it corresponded with a much larger event, so attendance was disporportionately high, and free comic books help raise the profile of the industry so everyone wins.

Pickings were slimmer than last year, but I still got quite a few books and crossed a bit off the needs list.

I also picked up my first original art. Ultraverse - Exiles #4, last page. Amber Hunt is flying off into space possessed by the Entity. Sort of a key event.
