I really Like Ninjak and the reason was simple it was written well. Everything had it's place and Busiek was good at his craft.

It's good to see some VH2 love. There are some pretty good reads in there and lots of great art. Overall it's not Pre Unity but it's better than Birthquake.

BloodShot was off the chains! Turok Was Suprisingly Cool, Solar & Shadowman Was A Good Read, Quantum & Woody Ruled Too.

I actually liked the premise of the Acclaim Turok (at least the one shot books) and Bloodshot better than the original. Shadowman eventually turned into a worthwhile read too. I would say that I liked Mike LeRoi just as much as Jack Boniface portraying Shadowman. Eternal Warriors had a neat premise also. I liked the Valiant version of Solar better, but Acclaim the version had it's good points too.

X-O, Magnus, N.I.O, Ninjak,Trinity Angels on the other hand...ugh.

I agree completely. The VH/2 version of Darque was just a more complex character overall. Especially when you add in the ties to the Forever Family.

It's nice to see some VH/2 love around here!

Actually, let me amend that statement, I like the original concept of VH1 Darque (pre-Chaos) better than the VH2 Darque.

The Darque in early SM and EW was creeeeeeepy.

I think Darque was great in his early appearances in Valiant, but as things went along, I thought he seemed a bit cartoonish and over the top. The Acclaim Darque was a tad more "realistic" (if there is such a thing).

i have to admit that i think visually acclaim's darque and mike leroi wre better than the original's and i also agree with what dj and veen just said. early darque was different than later darque in the original.

i also like the concept of bloodshot having to add meat to his deteriorating body in order to "maintain mass" (me-yeowar!)

You don't have to convince me, I thought the Acclaim Darque was excellent and I quite agree, he had more character depth (potential) than the original. It seemed there was a lot more planned and going on with the character ....

The Valiant Darque became rather one dimensional after awhile. 'Here I am, I'm the ugly, blatantly evil villain, blah, blah, blah.' The Acclaim Darque was suave, he could appear to be almost friendly maybe even gain your confidence a little before knifing you in the back.

Maybe it's jsut the superficial yutz in me, but I prefered the Valiant Darque to the Acclaim Darque. The original just had a really stand out , distinct visual to him as opposed to the one that looked like a poor man's Spike. Although I have to agree, the original got a wee bit overexposed, and it seemed to dilute the character quite a bit.

On what I liked about the Acclaim books I have to say thier version of Armorines, especially the upgraded version that showed up in the miniseries ruled. More Spider-Alien bashing action

. Although, I have yet to get my mits on the fourth and final issue to the series, it's still a good read. Especially with the return of underrated artist extraordinare, co-creator, and artist who launched the original team, Jim Californe, doing the art. Turok ws also a nice read as well, I'm a sucker for anything with dinos. My favorite honestly had to be the Operation:Stormbringer one-shot involving the X-O wearer of World War II, the Teutonic Knight, battling it out with the heroes of Valiant/Acclaim's WW2 era. Good writing from Mark Waid, and some decent art from Doug Braithwait.

I still remember reading Man of the Atom and thinking that there was serious potential with the Acclaim universe. Christina Z's writing on the Master Darque special and the limited series was excellent. I also think Solar: Hell on Earth was a pretty great story, it came very close to VH1 quality for me.

It was tons better than the drek Valiant was putting out towards the end, that's for sure.

Stormbringer was one of Elric of Melniboné's vorpal swords.

Stormbreaker is indeed the name of Beta Ray Bill's enchanted hammer.

Whether either of these names were used in the Acclaim universe, I have absolutely NO idea...
