The days of finding Valiant issues cheap are gone
So I went to a comic convention today and was looking for any Valiants I could find, but the first four or five dealers didn't have anything.
I went to the back part of the room to the last dealer's tables and found some Valiant but this guy was absolutely insane. He wanted outrageous prices for his Valiants. For example, he wanted $10 for Rai #0, $85 for Harbinger #1 and $55 for Magnus #1. I wanted to tell him "good luck selling those Valiants at those prices", but it wasn't worth my time and I walked away trying not to laugh.
I did find about 55 issues of comics that I needed in another dealer's .40 cent boxes, so the trip was worthwhile.

There's some putz over on the CGC boards clogging up all the threads with his stuff for sale, but he claims to have three boxes of VALIANT and Acclaim, so I asked him about a few issues. He only responds with about half the stuff I asked about (no mention of why) and one of the books I asked about was Rai #5. He wanted $15.
One of the books he claimed in the list was Unity Red for $5. I jumped quickly, but that was one of the ones he didn't respond with a price.

Sounds like they are stuck in a mid-nineties time warp.Lightning Strike wrote:So I went to a comic convention today and was looking for any Valiants I could find, but the first four or five dealers didn't have anything.

It is hit or miss sometimes. I was at a local con in Charlotte back in December. A guy had 5 long boxes full of Valiant. All .50 and I walked away with 2 Harbinger 41's and 7 Deathmate Green Previews.Daniel Jackson wrote:Sounds like they are stuck in a mid-nineties time warp.Lightning Strike wrote:So I went to a comic convention today and was looking for any Valiants I could find, but the first four or five dealers didn't have anything.

I found the best Valiant deals *ever* this weekend.
While perusing a local used bookstore I found a copy of Magnus #25 for 25 cents. Great for use in the baby room decorating project.
I then brokered a deal for a complete run of VH1 and VH2/3 (and a batman animated series run) for the unbelievable price of $0!
Yup that's right, a whole set of VH1 and VH2/3 for zero dollars and zero cents.
Of course, they were comics that I had originally given to my young cousin, who has since grown up, started high school, joined the football team, and became cool. No longer needs the comics laying around...

Are we talking a complete run? Variants and all.
Complete as in one of every issue, with variants on all the VH2 stuff and many of the VH1 stuff as well. Not all of the gold books, but several.Elveen wrote: Are we talking a complete run? Variants and all.
But certainly a complete reading of all the issues/story lines. I'm actually kind of stoked to have these back, as he's not interested in them anymore, and I have the room and such for them again. Also, I'm not moving anytime soon, so I don't have worry about lugging them around.
and the price was perfect (if you don't consider that I already paid for all of them years ago).
