Resident Evil 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time. Code Veronica was cool but is very frustrating. 3 was not as good as 2 but in terms of the series continuity was great. RE4 was amazing. I didn't finish it though but my bro does own a wii so might give it another go. RE5 is superb. I love it but Sheva is way more annoying than Ashley in that Ashley did atempt to get out of the way.
Dead Space was cool but the backdrops and set pieces looked too sterile for what they were trying to portray. There is a Dead Space game coming to Wii but it is an on rails shooter like House of the Dead and Umbrella Chronicles.
I convinced my brother to pick up Persona 4 today so will be giving that a go as soon as I can. Maybe doing so tonight as my migraine has rendered me unconscious for most of the day.

In RE5 I have unequiped Sheva of any kind of weapon (until I find the stun stick) and use her as a pack mule. That chick blazes through ammo like nobodys business and seeing as there is no friendly fire to worry about... PACK MULE and Nurse rolled into one !!!Drift wrote:Resident Evil 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time. I tried to replay RE 1 when they retooled it for the Gamecube a few years back. I forgot how horrible the control scheme was on the early versions of RE. Push the stick forward and you walk backwards, enter a different room and the orientation changes and now forward is forward. I got sick of it and quit playing the game after awhile.Drift wrote:Resident Evil 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time.

Finished up Shenmue II for the X-Box. Saw it for $6 and got it for the unlockable old school Sega arcade games. The game itself is incredibly intricate and original. I don't care for the button mashing game play u have at times and the tedious pace at the beginning but overall the game, especially the plot, really grew on me after awhile (the game really picked up once I got to "Beverly Hills"). Not a perfect experience by any means but I really got into it by the end, even started hunting down the non-arcade game collectibles.
And I also got Pro on WiiSports golf, still chipping away at most of the other sports on there.
And on a related note I covered a charity WiiSports bowling tournament at a retirement community. The guy in charge of it was interested in doing an online competition between different retirement homes, which unfortunately you can't do with WiiSports. It occurred to me that's a lot of money Nintendo could be making if they made an updated version of WiiSports with online play, more golf courses, etc.

I finally played the Xbox 360 demo for "Star War: The Force Unleashed" that I had downloaded a while back. VERY fun. I don't know who liked it more - me or my son. That's one I'll have to keep my eye on for when the used price gets cheap enough. I just don't see buying a used game for only 5 bucks or so less than it would be new.

It was a fun game, but I thought it was rather short. It's more of a rental game or as you said, wait until the price drops enough to justify the purchase.Heath wrote:I finally played the Xbox 360 demo for "Star War: The Force Unleashed" that I had downloaded a while back. Nintendo is leaving all kinds of money on the table ... they just don't seem to mind. They should be cranking out first-person titles on an annual basis for their big franchises but they seem to be satisfied with retooling all their old games. Their online setup is so far behind the other systems, but while the Wii is the 800-pound gorilla in video games not a lot is likely to change.Todd Luck wrote:It occurred to me that's a lot of money Nintendo could be making if they made an updated version of WiiSports with online play, more golf courses, etc.

It's actually a lot like RE4. It has moved a little away from the Resident Evil style and draws from a lot of modern video games but it still is a very tense game.Daniel Jackson wrote:Not as good as RE4?*SQUEE* wrote:Playing Resident Evil 5 on the PS3. It is kinda annoying.
I'm enjoying it ... I'm up to 5-3 so far, but Sheva can be pretty annoying. Knightt clued me in to just use her as a pack mule so that works pretty well. I'll try it out in co-op once I get through the single-player.
I played it for a month, got tired of it way too quickly and traded it back in for credit and got a new game. If I find it for $10 later on down the line I 'may' pick it up but I think it needs a good graphic overhaul. The whole Stormtroopers holding onto something as you are Force Dusting them just got old, fast.Daniel Jackson wrote:It was a fun game, but I thought it was rather short. After watching the new Punisher movie on Blu-Ray the other night, I am going to pull my Xbox Punisher game out and actually try and finish it. I thought this game REALLY tough back in the day, but that was before I had any proficiency with FPS using a joystick instead of a mouse. Now, I can tear some $hit UP and go for all of the 'extreme executions' within the game. No achievements but it should be a nice blast from the past.
Another couple of good games from Xbox is The Fantastic Four (1st movie). It was made in 720p so it looks pretty good and is just damn fun. Another game is Bard's Tale... very basic game, a bit awkward with the above view but the main character is just all about fightin' and f@ckin' and cracks me up at every turn. Lots of old timey fun.
oops, I forgot another two good old time Xbox games is Ghost Rider (yes from the movie), done VERY well and just riding UP a building on your flaming motorcycle is great fun and last but certainly NOT least is Ultimate Spider-Man. The game was done in great detail but it IS based in the Ultimate Universe and is a cell shaded game that is rendered in absolute beauty. Spidey has the famous banter when fighting, the swinging is SO much better in this game than ALL others with the exception of the new Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the 360 (high recommendation on that one) and the game is summed up in four letters. F... U... N...
My only concern is that I am only up to reading Ultimate Spider-man #15 or so and I am sure that the game will reveal a bit about what it is in the books I have yet to read. The saving grace is that 'hey, it's Spider-Man... in the Ultimate Universe things have 'changed/been updated' so there is not TOO much deviance'. Still I get a kick out of playing Ultimate Spider-Man (Xbox).
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, I picked up the day it came out (got a SWEET t-shirt with it as well) and LOVED it... until I figured out it was a 'quest driven' game. I was a 'hey go do this boy' for Luke Cage and am now the same for Moon Knight. Once you complete all their missions you will then aquire the ability to call upon them whilst in a fight/boss fight and they can throw some serious smack down when they do. But I know that there are four slots for this, so I have Luke Cage down, Moon Knight just about done, I know that Wolverine is in this and there must be one more character to fill that fourth slot. I just have a feeling that I will be the errand boy for hours to come before facing off against the symbiote threat that the game is all about. The swinging around NYC is off the hook with the fun meter and the graphics are VERY nice. The typical gotta kill so many bad guys to finish this or that task is bothersome but cut scenes are rewarding.
Bad thing now though is that I am STUCK... on a mission where it is just VERY difficult BUT, I got a hint off the internet to have Spidey switch to the Black Costume (which is an awesome ability to have... red suit and the black suit are able to be switched back and forth with ease and it NOT time consuming at all as you can switch on the fly) which will make the mission considerably easier.
So, I am caught between a rock and a hard place... here are the games that I am currently working on or am waiting to really start playing; Call of Duty: World at War, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2 (PS3), Prince of Persia (the new one), Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, The Hulk, Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3), God of War (PSP), the following Xbox games: Ultimate Spider-Man, The Hulk (something something destruction or whatever the name is), The Punisher, Bard's Tale, and a few other 360 games like Call of Duty 2 and 3, Massive Effect, Halo 3, every Guitar Hero and Rock Band game that is out (with the exception of Metallica), BIOSHOCK (why I am not balls deep into this game, I... do... not... know) and I think that Dead Rising just BEGS to be played as well.
I am in the depth of buying too many games without the time to play them out. An hour or two here or an hour or two there on games gives me no sense of accomplishment.
So, I am taking off from work today a noon, hopefully get a nooner and then play the wee hours of the morning. Yeah, we'll see how THAT goes !!! hehehe
I've been busy bagging/boarding an excellent Ebay auction I won to replace my previously purchased issues of Jon Sable. I picked up Jon Sable Freelancer (First Comics) and the mini-series (IDW) (7-56 Jon Sable Freelancer and the 6 issue mini) for something like $3.75 plus s/h off Ebay and when they arrived, they were in cherry condition which absolutely cheered me up because the previous books I had purchased Jon Sable Freelancer (First Comics) I picked up 1-50something and only 1-7 were acceptable to be added to my collection. I could not have won a better auction. And dammit, this Mike Grell's Jon Sable has GREAT art and a very different kind of story to them, making for a fresh perspective on Comics (and being a DU, is a sweet thaaang as well). First Comics has an Elric of Melniboné series out as well that I would like to pick up... I nkokw this is off topic but if anybody has any Elric of Melniboné that I could buy, trade, perform certian acts with migets for, I'd like to hear from ya and maybe we can work something out.
Another thing TO BRING IT BACK ON TOPIC... I am wanting to once again play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Xbox 360) (I finished it and traded it in to Gamestop like a doofus). Well, now that I am using my HDMI to it's fullest capability AND have a better HDTV, does anyone have a copy that they are done with and want to get rid of (i.e. sell, loan, trade etc) ? With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 coming out in November, I just wanna get that 'shock and awe' feeling again before I have to go through it all over again. So for the Elric of Melniboné (First Comics) or COD: Modern Warfare Xbox 360... please PM or email me to see what we can get going on !!!
Thanks... wow long post.

Yeah, when they were dead last in the console wars with the Gamecube I remember them having stellar online play and churning out Mario and Smash Brother sequels every year.depluto wrote:Nintendo is leaving all kinds of money on the table ... they just don't seem to mind.
