Nice Valiant Essay
Came across this very good Valiant essay/blog-entry while doing a web search. I think he gives a little too much credit to some of the post-Unity titles, but otherwise I agree with most of it.
And I had no idea Paul Creddick was Jim Shooter.

BTW, if you look through the "Comics" section of his blog ( http://www.chirographum.com/weblog/index.php?cat=3 ) he has quite a few Valiant entries.

Some good observations. Definately worth the read. Thanks for the pointer.jcdenton wrote:Came across this very good Valiant essay/blog-entry while doing a web search. I think he gives a little too much credit to some of the post-Unity titles, but otherwise I agree with most of it.

"He seems to indicate that Solar (in Magnus) preceeded Solar getting his own title, but Solar #1 was Sept. 1991, while Solar (in Magnus #6) was Nov. 1991."
That's what I was thinking too, thanks for the confirmation.
BTW that issue had what is still my all-time favorite Solar quote. After melting through the wall of Magnus' room to make his grand appearance after 2000 years in hiding, Magnus asks Solar why he melted through the wall and Solar says "Would you have believed I was Solar if I knocked on the door?"
"(Did you guys notice that the blog is from August 2002...)"
Yeah, that's the great thing about Valiant. Pretty much any article, no matter how old, is just as timely as the day it was written.

Hmm, are you simply making a note of the date because it is almost three yeas old or are saying that the date could be curious because of aug002?
I assume that it is simply the former since I assume that you know the true identity (the first name is all that you would need) of the latter.
I could not find mention of the word Hawaii (since we all know that aug002 lives in Hawaii) on the blog so I assume that it is not actually aug002.

I was just pointing out that the text was three years old
and it alluded to a "rumored" return of some of the characters.

Hey, it's always cool to find myself being quoted, even years ago for things I wrote years earlier!greg wrote:That's an interesting review...

Yup, my aged memory does indeed recall reading Solar's appearance in Magnus before I picked up Solar #1, even if that doesn't jibe with the publication dates.
I probably just read them out of order...
