Which game is better?
My oldest son turns 16 this Sunday, and I decided to let him start playing more mature games, so I'm going to buy him a new game for his birthday. Out of curiosity, which 360 game is better, Prince of Persia or Halo 3?

Re: Which game is better?
Prince of Persia is probably better as a rental ... once through is enough (12 or so hours, with another 5 or so collecting all the light seeds). Halo 3 has a pretty good single-player game, but a ton of multiplayer options. So I would say Halo 3, so long as a few gory moments and some tacky aholes online don't bother you.Lightning Strike wrote:My oldest son turns 16 this Sunday, and I decided to let him start playing more mature games, so I'm going to buy him a new game for his birthday. He won't be able to do the online thing though. So would you still recommend it over Prince of Persia?depluto wrote:Prince of Persia is probably better as a rental ... once through is enough (12 or so hours, with another 5 or so collecting all the light seeds). That is a toss up... Halo 3 is beautiful but what really makes this game sing is it's austere muliplayer community (mostly made up of 12 year old boys who talk about bangin' your dad while at the same time whuppin' up on you IN the game).
I think Prince of Persia tells a much better story and it beautiful to watch. Halo 3 (if you play it on an HDTV) is clear cut beauty as the HD stuff on there is amazing BUT the story gets pretty old (to me) and those little guys running around spouting stupid $hit... ah, it just got on my nerves after a while.
Prince of Persia vs Halo 3 and your boy will soon be 16 years old ?
Prince of Persia
ESRB rating is T for Teen: Alcohol Reference, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence
TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
Halo 3
ESRB rating is M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Violence
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
This is just my call but for my kids on this one we would look to the ESRB ratings. If my son is not old enough to go up and buy it (and they DO card at places like GameStop) then he won't be playing it.
Unless, I liked the game as well and then it's ok....
(I am SO joking with that.... but it was funny )

Seriously WHEW, I thought it was written like a 'gee thanks Knightt for pointing out a parenting thing on the games'Lightning Strike wrote:No, I was thanking you for your advice silly.Knightt wrote:whoa whoa... did I offend you ?Lightning Strike wrote:Thanks Knightt![]()
BTW, what about the game "God of War"? He's mentioned that he wants that game.

God of War ? That is an exclusive PS3 game, do you have a PS3 ? And NO, I would not recommend it for a young person to play. Not only is it bloody but has some pretty good nudity AND to top it off... a mini-game that is basically about getting a little 'boom boom'. MAN, as an adult you can appreciate it... I was laughing my butt off. AHEM but it is a pretty intense game, a GREAT game but has a strong M rating
I hope I am not being preachy and don't mean to be... I know some folks let their kids play these games, I'm just saying what be happenin' in da Knightt crib !!! We want the crib to be a place of peace, a place where you can chill, you can relax, a place where you can.... chillax.Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language

Yeah, that's how I am. For a long time I didn't even let them play anything rated higher than "E". But then my oldest turned 13 and started asking if he could play "Teen" games, and after some thought, I said yes.Knightt wrote:Seriously WHEW, I thought it was written like a 'gee thanks Knightt for pointing out a parenting thing on the games'Lightning Strike wrote:No, I was thanking you for your advice silly.Knightt wrote:whoa whoa... did I offend you ?Lightning Strike wrote:Thanks Knightt![]()

But over the last six months or so, he's been wanting to rent the higher rated games. I don't know. I really don't want to start that, but he is going to be 16.
Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it.

God of War 1 and 2 are available on the PS2, GOW 3 is on the PS2 and PS3. If you have a PS2 I would say that God of War would be a good choice. There is a sex mini game but nothing is shown, I want to say there are bared breasts but it fits in to the gameplay of ancient Greece.
I would also suggest you get him a book of Greek mythology, seeing the mythical figures is cool but it adds a whole new dimension when there is a working understanding of the stories.
He would learn without knowing it.

My son has asked about GoW 1 and 2... I told him sure, when you reach the age for the ESRB rating, you can go for it. I'll save 'em for ya. He was cool with it because I explained it to him like an adult. I am amazed at the fact that if you speak to you kids like an adult, they understand a lot better and are more amiable to what you are trying to get across to them.
My son is old enough to play it so he is good to go but I laid down the law and am sticking to it, if you can't walk up and buy it, you ain't playing it.
My kids are too cool though... it's only when "I" get kinda stupid on them do they show their '*SQUEE*' (which is followed by a thumpin'
), when I talk to them as an adult they respond very well.
I hear it all the time, 'well kids are growing up faster yadda yadda' but that still doesnt change the ESRB rating.
My oldest is 19 yrs old... that doesnt mean he can drink beer. When he can buy it, he can drink it. Too easy...
(now if he can score us some weed, that is a different story)
I AM SO KIDDING ON THAT ONE !!!!
