How often do you re-read?
I was just wondering.... how often do you guys re-read your comics?
I have not re-read anything in a long time (probably since right after I joined the boards).
As I am going through all my books, I have been thinking.... "Hey, that was a great story."
So, how often do you re-read?
And maybe a list of a few things that you have re-read the most.

Not often at all. Mainly because I've got a lot of stuff sitting around that hasn't been read once yet.
When I do reread, it's because I really get the itch to read something that I thought was great after reading alot of mediocre comics.
The only books I recall rereading are:
- The Dark Knight Returns (read three times)
- The Walking Dead tpb 1-6 (read three times)
- Invincible trades 1-6 (read twice)
I will go back and reread a single issue of any title here or there if I've forgotten a character or something.
I've also reread several pre-unity books just to see if they held up and read as well for me today as they did back in the 90s. For the most part, they don't. I'll probably reread them again at some point whenever I finish off my commons.
However, I will probably go back and read both Magnus trades again sometime soon. That's a book that I actually didn't care for in the 90s, but when I reread the pre-unities a few years ago this was clearly the book that held up the best story wise. Strange how that turned out.

It's been a LONG time since I re-read anything. Mostly as I've been picking up big stacks of stuff I've never read.
That being said, I did just re-read the first 15 issues of DC's 52, as I got the next two trades and decided to start over. I fully plan on pulling down the Absolute Watchmen off the shelf and giving it a full re-read before the movie is released. I have re-read several Batman titles as I've been filling in some gaps, so I like to read the surrounding issues for context.
That's when I end up re-reading the most: I may have a few issues of something, but as soon as I fill in some gaps of a full run, I tend to read the entire run once its been put together.

I re-read a lot of DU stuff from time to time as I know that i will be reading a complete run in most instances (although not all stories are complete of course...).
Some series I re-read fairly frequently - Static Shock: Rebirth of the Cool I have read about 4 or 5 times; Kingdom Come 4 or 5 times; Civil War I have read 3 times; Watchmen about 4 or 5 before my current re-reading; there are lots of other examples.

Overall its completely random.
I have so many comics that at any one time i may have ten boxes open for various reasons and whe i see something that was cool way back when illk grab it and ignore reality for a while.
Sometimes i can lose half a day with a small pile of old favourites and the odd tpb.
Did you ask the questin for more than one reason dude?
I.e did you find stuff you loved and remembered how cool it was and re read the odd one or did you do that and then think i wonder how many people actually read the stuff they own, keep and store after the first read?
I have gone through and sold cleared out given away 1,000,000 comics in 30+ years so know what its like to change my mind about my comics and move them on when either no required or in need of some $$$.
im about to clean house again so will no doubt so as you did and stop to read some old bits that are just to cool to lay down.

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

I have reread Unity most recently of any Valiant, but I'm looking to finish the few stragglers in my VH1 set then go on a bender that will end depressingly (or so I've heard, I quit pre-Chaos Effect/Birthquake the first time around). I reread Sandman ever few years, maybe not the whole thing, but usually a good chunk of it. Anything that I have in TPB is more likely to be reread just from a convenience standpoint. Good examples of that include John Byrne's Fantastic FOur, Starman, and Transmetropolitan.

I buy a lot of comics, so I don't have a lot of time for re-reading, but there are certain series or books that I have re-read numerous times:
Fables
Solar: Alpha & Omega
The Ride (esp. the issues by Wagner & Stelfreeze)
Blue Monday
Courtney Crumrin
Sin City
Swamp Thing #21 "The Anatomy Lesson"
I've re-read a number of other books, but they fall more into "once every 7-10 years" category.

I'm constantly re-reading back issues. I usually read a little bit during the day, and later at night in bed. My favorites are:Elveen wrote:I was just wondering.... how often do you guys re-read your comics?

I think with me it's less a matter of how often, which is pretty often, in re-reading terms, as much as it is WHAT. I tend to go over things that I really loved. Things that I found deep and meaningful, so that I can savor the nuances and gain new insights. (This might explain the lack of rereading of most post CE books) As it happens-off the Valiant topic-I recently finished up Fables and am about to depart on an immediate re-read. I'll likely re-read Watchmen right before the film comes out. That sort of thing.

ditto, I've got several sets of complete series I want to read at some point. I will say I did do a complete re-read of all the Valiant comics a year or two back.hulk181man wrote:400yrs wrote:Not often at all. Mainly because I've got a lot of stuff sitting around that hasn't been read once yet.

I read comics all the time, unless here
.
I have read valiant complete and acclaim twice (as I only recently completed a 100% run last year) ~ thanks Greg for Accliam armorines 4.
Read full xo about 5 times, and archer armstrong. solar the same.
Part sets of the rest ( before completing full set) maybe 5/6 times.
Animalkl man about 3 times, swampthing, hellbalzer and spectre the same.
I read what I have, but now tend to wait for full runs or complete sets ~ exception CROSSGEN. Which rocks and I cannot read enough of at the moment.
Will re read valiant as I bind them this year.
