Has anyone read 'Crossed' from Avatar Press, written by Garth Ennis ?
What... in... the... FUDGE is up with that book ? Totally shameless book and I can't believe something like that is even in print.
IMO... sick.
Thoughts ?

I said this was the case with Avatar a while back now.
They simply let Ellis Ennis and Millar do what Marvel DC Image and Such will not, which is whatever the hell they like.
Im sure somewhere in there is some quality, but expect to find some sick f'd up nonsense whilst you are sifting through to find the quality.

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

Uh kinda like a guy getting 'infected', he then chases a guy out of a diner stabbing him with a knife, guy falls, 'infected' makes a hole wider with the knife, infected pulls down his pants sporting a woody and starts to... ya know, in the wound.Draco wrote:but expect to find some sick f'd up nonsense whilst you are sifting through to find the quality.

I mean, really... is that REALLY neccessary ? I've heard of over the top but this one takes first prize on the

I don't know what to say.
What the hell is going on with Ennis ? Why is that kind of crap being printed ?

Ugh, I had heard about this a while ago. I thought it might be bad, but not THAT bad!Knightt wrote:Uh kinda like a guy getting 'infected', he then chases a guy out of a diner stabbing him with a knife, guy falls, 'infected' makes a hole wider with the knife, infected pulls down his pants sporting a woody and starts to... ya know, in the wound.Draco wrote:but expect to find some sick f'd up nonsense whilst you are sifting through to find the quality.![]()

You will be pleased to know his Dan Dare is much more tame in keeping with the old school feel of the character.

I've been similarly appalled by Crossed but I'm sticking with it (if I can keep stomaching it), because it's the most genuine 'horror comic' i've ever seen.
With 'the Crossed' Ennis appears to have set himself the task of creating the vilest creatures in horror history, and he may have succeeded; all of humanities basest urges, ramped up to their highest degree and executed without the possibility debate, mercy or reason.
It's almost unbearable to read, with actions I'm uncomfortable even thinking about right there on the page in front of you. But that's the point.
There's no sugaring this pill, no hiding this brutality behind humour (like the Boys), just as cold and merciless a world as I've seen in comics, occupied by strong characters who have no option but to run and run and run. For now.
I'd have a hard time recommending it, to anyone, but there's more going on here than simple depravity.

i find Crossed to be pretty funny actually.
it's so completely over the top i can't take it seriously. which i think is kind of the point. this books crosses the line (REALLY bad pun intended) in so many ways, i can't help but read it and chuckle...i would think ennis is going for complete shock value, but i could be totally wrong

The screwing the wound bit is stolen from Clive Barker.Knightt wrote:Uh kinda like a guy getting 'infected', he then chases a guy out of a diner stabbing him with a knife, guy falls, 'infected' makes a hole wider with the knife, infected pulls down his pants sporting a woody and starts to... ya know, in the wound.Draco wrote:but expect to find some sick f'd up nonsense whilst you are sifting through to find the quality.![]()

Still, the whole thing is just unbelievable that it has seen print. I know, I know, nobody is forcing the book into my hand. Just making an observation.
