I will have to check out Walking Dead. Where is a good place to jump in?
When I was at SDCC there were a few places that had 1/2 price TPBs, there were some walking dead in there. I don't know if you are planning to go out to SDCC this year, but it is something to think about.

Yeah, if you don't read that series from the beginning, you're missing a lotDrift wrote:You have to do WD from the beginning to gain an idea of the scope of the series. There are currently 9 TPBs in the series.JustCallMeAric wrote:No love for Ex Machina? Its definately my favorite.

agreed...there is too much background...and besides, every issue is worth the read...Lightning Strike wrote:Yeah, if you don't read that series from the beginning, you're missing a lotDrift wrote:You have to do WD from the beginning to gain an idea of the scope of the series. pick up the TPB's
TOTALLY agree with everyone (and yes, to include no love for Ex Machina, I dropped that book around issue 14). The Walking Dead, this is a stellar book and to top it off, it is in black and white !!!! For once in a very long time, I actually care about the characters in the story, every one of them and reading the books from #1 to current is a great experience. I cannot wait to see where this series goes in the future because by issue 50 I was totally blown away, the ending left me with my mouth hanging open in shock.myron wrote:agreed...there is too much background...and besides, every issue is worth the read...Lightning Strike wrote:Yeah, if you don't read that series from the beginning, you're missing a lotDrift wrote:You have to do WD from the beginning to gain an idea of the scope of the series. Easily one of the best written books in a long time and that is what makes people overlook the book being in black and white. Anyone agree ? Because at first I felt like I was 'fooled' by reading a comic in b/w, but with just about every issue ending with a cliffhanger, it just keep going and going and going. Simply great stuff.

Like you, when I first read it, I was disappointed that it was in black and white, but then I was blown away by the story and felt the story came across better in b/w. And Kirkman had vowed to never put color in the book.Knightt wrote:TOTALLY agree with everyone (and yes, to include no love for Ex Machina, I dropped that book around issue 14). Oh, and even though I hit my five - I would be remiss not to mention these:
Conan (all versions, I buy three copies - 1 for me, then 1 for each of my boys for when they come of age to read them).
Solomon Kane (perhaps the BEST of Howard's characters, and easily one of the most quotable).
Kull the Conqueror (also, a phenomenal piece of work).

It's Wildstorm so I have it on my post in the DC list.JustCallMeAric wrote:No love for Ex Machina? Its definately my favorite.

Like everyone else said, start at the beginning. There are trades and hardcovers which can be had at reasonable prices on ebay. There are few people who do not enjoy this book if they start it from the beginning.JustCallMeAric wrote:I will have to check out Walking Dead. Where is a good place to jump in?

I read a few black and white books so it didn't bother me. This book isn't strictly black and white. It has some graytones as well. I think it's perfect for the theme of the book.Lightning Strike wrote:Like you, when I first read it, I was disappointed that it was in black and white, but then I was blown away by the story and felt the story came across better in b/w.
