Anything New Happening W/Valiant?

Post by bnasty71 »

Haven't visited the boards in quite some time, and it seems as if nothing new has happened other then the 3 Hardbacks that came out. Anybody have any info regarding whats in the future? Or is the Valiant ship slowly sinking before it ever set off to sail??

I'm wondering the same thing.

I check in from time to time, but haven't seen anything to get excited about from VEI for some time now.

But when some news hits I will be back to celebrate.

This has been a topic of some debate. But of late, nobody wants to think about it too much. There is enough depressing news already.

One former Valiant artist that has also done some new work for VEI made mention of "things to come" on this board, and another former Valiant artist talked about the new Valiant to a board member at a con.

SO..... hope springs eternal.

No news or reports from VEI. There wasn't even any real excitement for the A&A hardcover.

That might been due to the lateness of the book.

There's Playing God and Only the Valiant podcasts. Both are released on a regular basis.

I think that is a major factor, coupled with the fact that so little news or updates on what was causing the problem came forth from VEI.

I don't know, maybe it's just me...but If I ran VEI...I would at least from time to time post something, like "Happy Holiday guys" or "We're still here guys". You know...anything. At least then I would feel like VEI is still out there somewhere.
Does anyone else agree? I don't know...maybe I'm just being inpatient or naive to the business. Any thoughts?

I agree .... the silence is deafening.

It would keep people's interest and spirits up if they would just come on here and say things like "we're working on something really cool you guys are all going to love" .... just to keep the interest going.

As we heard from a few people, they say they only come around here every couple months because things aren't coming down the pipeline fast enough

I’ve felt that the VEI guys could do more to pull at least the forum guys in. Not only would it be the friendly thing to do but in the long run would probably strengthen the fan base. I for one felt totally alienated when after faithfully preordering the A&A HC there was no news, no explanations—nothing a long while.

On the other hand, I’ve begun to enjoy the forum tremendously with or without new comics. Even if VEI publishes nothing more than the HC I’ve met some really great guys who are enthusiastic about the comic medium and love the ‘90s Valiant. In addition a real philanthropic spirit is encouraged—giving me the opportunity to recently contribute to a worthy cause while picking up a really cool item for my collection.

At this point I too am skeptical about the new Valiant. There are a few titles I’d love to see in print again but at an average $2.99 comic cost I’m not going to buy every Valiant comic out of nostalgia. However, it is safe to say that the conversation and fraternal spirit is enough to keep me posting here and I recommend trying to see the forum as more than a source for new Valiant news.

So b/c nothings really going on,let's just hide. So what, talk about something else then. That's crappy if that's they way they feel. Fans love interaction. This board would liven up instead of the same 10 or 11 people posting the same stuff over and over.So if VEI is out there and reading. WAKE UP!

Your absolutely right, but I think that most of the postings are becoming old or repetative b/c of this VEI silence. I come in here from time to time...read some of the random posts...but I'd lie if I said that I didn't always look for a post that looks like it might have some insight on the future of our Valiant characters first.
Am I the only one??

I understand where you’re coming from and share your frustration. I too would like more VEI news and/or more solid title information but it is what is. These days I’ve probably posted more on the non-Valiant threads.

You know what have even been great..IF VEI would have posted a thread along the lines of:"How do you guys like the new HC's"
I'll bet that thread would flashing be for days.

Perhaps but I think that the board has already produced a dialog that is probably more honest and indicative the of the fan response.

I believe Dino has made it clear that he enjoys hearing how we enjoyed the new books.

Im bummed that things arent moving along as fast as I would like.. but I dont know what is going on behind the scenes either..

I trust Dino and VEI.. Hes a fan at heart and I think he will do his best to make VEI successful. Although that doesnt mean that it will be exactly what WE think it should be.

They didnt spend all that money for nothing...its an investment.. and they want it to pay off... So do we!

For sure.

Although some updates and occasional info would be a great help in keeping people happy in the meantime.

Maybe the VEI guys don't want to deal with some to negative vibes that can be found here.

But I think some info and updates could be good.

Maybe VEI could send info through some of the members here.......

um........ I volunteer myself.

Well maybe they can use that snazzy website of theirs to post 'stuff' ask questions of the fans, maybe conduct a contest or two...

http://www.valiantentertainment.com/forums

:?

It sure would be nice to find some of those things there. :thumb:

They definitely picked the wrong business to enter then. You put out a product, it is discussed and even criticized by the purchasers of said product. Also, this is definitely one of the tamer comic related sites for certain.

No thanks. That's about all we get from them now anyway. It smacks of amateurism and shadiness. Whether the news/info is good or bad, I think most would prefer it comes from the horse's mouth rather than from other people.

VEI needs to do something. This is twice that something has "gone wrong" and neither time have we gotten word on any real reasons why, and certainly nothing in a timely fashion. "Printing errors"-announced a month after the A&A hc was due out? "New books generated by the end of the year"? Well, here it is, 2009 and no word on what is being generated. I understand about legal contracts and all but even a disclaimer saying they can't discuss ANYTHING yet, would suffice. Unless they can't even do THAT. Either way, this is very frustrating indeed.
