One of the best parts about having an 8 million print run is that, when Jim Lee was doing absolutely THE BEST art he ever did, at the absolute top of his game....and X-Men #1-3 are feasts of the eyes....copies of this book will always, always be cheap.
50 years from now, barring any odd sort of catastrophe, X-Men #1 will still be only a "quarter book" (which will likely be $50 by then
)
But generations of people will be able to enjoy, firsthand, some of the most beautiful art ever to grace a comics page.

The ones I have ever seen are usually in a pile in a basket, just thrown in together. Good for reading and not much else...Daniel Jackson wrote:What kind of shape was it in? I also picked up Shadowman 41 (2) in the same condition.
I was pretty shocked as well. I passed on a Hard Corps Defense Version as I have quite a few of those and didn't feel like shelling for it.
It was a surprise as I was visiting an old friend, and we just happened to visit the downtown in this town.

This was actually pretty cool...

For $19.99 shipped, I got the production page for the "International Enquisitor"
pretend tabloid ("editorial page") for July 1990, printed in Gameboy #2.
It's on an illustration board, came with a Voyager envelope for the West 21st Street offices,
and included both of the original photos used on the page.
I laid it all out (with the actual book(s)) for this photo...
