Time to say hello
started reading comics when they were costing me a whole 10 cents a book. i guess that kinda dates me but i can still remember getting p.o.ed when they went to 12 cents. my 50 cent allowance was now buying only 4 books, but i still had something left over for gumballs. i would roll up the books, stick them in my back pocket and bike home. bagging and boarding was not an option in those days.i would read and reread my superman, justice league and all of those great early titles. you could say i grew up with a cape around my neck. jump forward 25 years or so and there i was reading sesame street and dr.seuss to my young son over and over. after that became a little tiring the light went on and junior and i found ourselves at the local comic shop. i was in heaven (again). it was like riding a bike, you never forget how. introduced him to the man of steel, the caped crusader and discovered the valiant universe. green eggs and ham was replaced by eternal warrior, bert and ernie by archer and armstrong, the cat in the hat by x-o. quality time, quality time my new friends. eventually as junior got older the bedtime stories faded into watching t.v. and doing homework and the comics stopped as well. jump ahead another dozen or so years and after a couple of moves and hauling the long boxes around, i cracked open one and fell in love all over again. it can only be described as an old flame, some one you keep coming back to over and over again. was more than a little surprised when i did a few google searches and a little digging that valiant ceased as a company way back in 96. holy unity batman! wha......... and then i also found this site. good grief. everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask. i think i found a home. i have been lurking here for a while just soaking up all the info, reading the boards and decided it was time to say greetings from the great white north. i've got tons of questions and looking forward to spending some more quality time with all of you. happy new year all.

Wow. Welcome aboard. Please stick around!! It sounds like you may have a lot of comic history that you can provide to the board.cooper99 wrote:started reading comics when they were costing me a whole 10 cents a book. i guess that kinda dates me but i can still remember getting p.o.ed when they went to 12 cents. my 50 cent allowance was now buying only 4 books, but i still had something left over for gumballs. i would roll up the books, stick them in my back pocket and bike home. bagging and boarding was not an option in those days.i would read and reread my superman, justice league and all of those great early titles.
