There was a store here in town called "Service Merchandise" that had a lot of those Robotech figures when the series was playing here in the 80's.
They had tons of them.
I remember seeing the mothership (the name escapes me) that was freaking huge.
The last time I was in there was when they were closing up and they had one Cyclone left. I begged Mom for it, but it was still pretty pricey even on clearance.
And so I remain Cyclone-less.
I watched the show as a kid, but I've never gone back and revisited it once I got older.

I came across many Jetfires before in the past. At one point I had 5 complete sets including the original boxes. I had a few of the Macross symbol Jetfires, but they were all painted. I have never seen or heard of the sticker version. These Jetfires are scarce and usually go a little bit higher on Ebay. The story behind these Jetfires was that Hasbro bought the toy rights to use the Macross valkyrie for their Transformer line. At that time, a toy manufacturer in Japan produced them for Hasbro because they had a surplus of Macross valkyrie parts. That's the reason why the first batch of Jetfires released in the U.S. all had the Macross symbol. Afterwards, the Japanese toy manufacturer folded and Hasbro had to find another manufacturer which made the second production run without the Macross symbols.maraxusofkeld wrote:I have a two Jetfire G1 Transformers one with a painted Macross symbol and one with a sticker Macross symbol. Anyone know how rare they are?

This stuff must have quite the following then. I had no idea.Escaflown4 wrote:You should have seen what Macross / Robotech / Jetfire Veritechs sold for back during the heyday (1999 - 2001). You'll be lucky to get anything under $300. Both the SuperOstrich and Elintseeker usually sold well over 1 grand.*SQUEE* wrote:That is a pricey item.

The Bandai 1/55 is the original one. I used to have a complete MIB set back a few years before I sold it. I think the price might have gone down lately, but I can't confirm it as I have been out of the loop with the original Macross toys.Jay Tomio wrote:No, I'm looking for the original. A few have popped up on ebay recently but either from a seller I was sure on, or in a condition I wasn't approving of.Escaflown4 wrote:Are you looking for the Yamato 1/60 scale version of the Bandai 1/55?Jay Tomio wrote:I collect them but at the moment t I'm just looking for the Elintseeker.

I'm not sure whether there was a lawsuit, but Harmony Gold at that time bought the rights to use Macross footage for their Robotech show. Since Hasbro only had the toy rights, they had to change jetfire to skyfire for the Transformers show.Eternalwarrior68 wrote:I picked up jet fire a few years back, every accessory included, but out of the box. $30 from a guy i worked with.
If I recall correctly, there was a law suit Harmany gold filed against mavel for copy right infringement. That's why Jetfire became Skyfire and they had to change the design.

Is the Shadow Fighter the same as Sue Graham's? I have the MPC Rand, Sue Graham and whats her name in the red alpha. From the looks of it the Shadow Fighter looks the same as Sue Graham's alpha fighter.Eternalwarrior68 wrote:The shadow alpha is has arrived, and the Beta shipped today. I will post pics this weekend

RCB is the Royal Command Battloid. It's the 5th stage of the Invid. It looks really cool in the cartoon. My brother who collected the old Robotech stuff said that they had made a mold of the RCB but it never came to fruition. Since they are making die cast Robotech toys again I wanted to know if they finally made an RCB. I would've bought at least 2 of them. Thus far, they only made the Invid Scout and the Pincer.Eternalwarrior68 wrote:sorry.. whats a RCB? I dont recognize thattsokolate wrote:Did they ever make an RCB figure?

I was a big Robotech fan back in the day.. Ive read all of the McKinney books 3-4 times.. I have a ton of comics, including several copies of Macross #1..
Yes, I have the original Cyclone toy.. I saved up my lawn mowing money to buy it at Service Merchandise!!
As a personal project I would like to outfit a motorcycle to look just like the Cyclone. it would be so sweet!!
Yep, Toby Macguire's production company has acquired the rights to produce a live action Robotech movie. I would be geeked to see something like that.. I just hope it doesnt turn out looking like PowerRangers
