Dark haired guy, lower side - Vulcan/Gabriel Summers. Long-lost brother of Cyclops and Havok, new Emperor of the Shi'ar.
Long haired guy up top - Can't remember his name, from Annihilation. Ravenous?

I read his wiki (I know, I know) but I can't figure out how DarkHawk would tie in to this. Anyone want to cast some further light on the whole thing?Lightning Strike wrote:Dr. Solar wrote:Nobody's perfect.Lightning Strike wrote:For whatever reason, I've never been able to get into that characterDr. Solar wrote:Two words.

More gets revealed about his powers and background in War of Kings. Got a feeling he's suddenly about to become more powerful and more important. Wouldn't surprise me if his appearance in Nova probably set some things up (hadn't read the issues yet, probably pick it up the trade).TKWill wrote:I read his wiki (I know, I know) but I can't figure out how DarkHawk would tie in to this. Does anyone know if the War of Kings #1 solicited for March is
a) a double sized special to kick off the x-over (like Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest)
b) a double sized first issue for a miniseries
or
c) the first issue of a miniseries with normal sized (22 page) issues that will cost $3.99?

Marvel leaves out little things like "1 (of 6)" and "32 PGS" on the solicitation on their website.
$4 a pop for the mini on top of $4 a pop for Darkhawk 1 and 2 (just so they can reprint old Darkhawk issues in the back). Yeah that's a little too thick for my blood. If I had caught the cover price on Secret Invasion sooner I woulda waited and got the trade of that. I think I'm going to wait War of Kings out and either get it in trade off of Amazon or get the individual issues on a back issue sale.

What was the good, fairly contained story?Chiclo wrote:Looks like they are continuing a good, fairly contained story from the Marvel U and turning it into a near-company wide crossover.
The last time that happened, we went from Planet Hulk to World War Hulk.
I hope War of Kings goes better than that.

It's keeping a similar structure to Annihilation, it's just a little harder to figure out when and what series ships. It's still got a special kicking it off and runs through 4 series/miniseries for a few issues (Nova, Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Darkhawk, and Kingbreaker) on the solicitations I've seen so far. So it still looks pretty contained to a small group of characters.

I mean, what was the good, fairly contained story that precedes War of Kings? Because I thought it spun out of Secret Invasion somehow, which was the antithesis of a good, fairly contained story.

It looks like War of Kings is spinning mostly out of Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest and the unrelated (until now) 12 issue story arc from Uncanny X-Men that ran through the 490s. And, I suppose, the X-Men: Emperor Vulcan mini.Dr. Solar wrote:Hulk smash puny post.Chiclo wrote:Planet HulkDr. Solar wrote:What was the good, fairly contained story?Chiclo wrote:Looks like they are continuing a good, fairly contained story from the Marvel U and turning it into a near-company wide crossover.
