Dude. He had a heart attack and was in the hospital. Come on, now.greg wrote:One other Simpsons that's pretty good is the one where
Bart & Milhouse end up running the comic book store...
(I forget why... I think Comic Book Guy was in love with Skinner's mom.)
Anyway, Bart leaves Milhouse in charge of the shop for a minute
and Milhouse gets talked into ordering thousands of copies
of some comic book because the hero wears glasses.
And the comic was by Lenscrafters, and it was called 'The Adventures of Biclops!'
Sheesh. Some Simpson's fan YOU are...

Wow. Reading these horror stories makes me appreciate my LCS even more. The only Valiants left in the long boxes in the front are from VH2 (first time I really looked, I pulled Harbinger Acts of God and Unity 2000 1 &2). They're also good about letting me check out the stuff they've got in the back room. Last pull - Shadowman #8, Chaos Effect Alpha and Omega, Harbinger 38 & 40, and I've got the last two issues of Eternal Warriors waiting for my next trip.
Sure, it's not gold covers or VVSS, but I'm still at the phase where I'm putting runs together. Maybe someday, I'll go after the variants...

Did you guys see the "interview" with the Little Rock Comic Shop owner in the new CBG?greg wrote:So... will you be avoiding his shop(s) altogether,
or only appearing in Shop 1 while he is working Shop 2 (and vice versa)?
$105 is the grand total that I have spent in that very LCS
over the course of the last five years.
(That total is $15 if you subtract my purchases of bags & boards.)
I get some sense of satisfaction buying 200 bags & boards in there, and nothing else.
It is a nice, subtle way to say... "I bought lots of books lately... elsewhere."
...earlier adventures...

It's on page 44 of the May 2005 Issue - imbedded into the incoherent article that tries to make a correlation between indy comics and blue states (which I thought was an interesting study, but without any numbers it didn't make any sense!) - Michael does mention work in a several line plug of his self-published Wild Stars book.whetteon wrote:

if anyone has wantlists, i'm more than happy to cut people on the board deals. i set up at shows, and do books that "price" for under $5 at $0.50 a book if it's marvel or dc, or 3/$1 for any other company. anything over $5 i go 75% off guide value. that applies to modern age books 1980 - 2003. common books from 2004 are 50% cover price and some of the hotter issues just depend on what we have in stock. anything bronze or silver age i can cut decent deals on, just depends what it is.
we also offer a pull service for new books every week, if anyone would be interested in doing that, i will provide free bags and boards, and if you purchase more than 15 books a month, you get the a 10% discount as well. if you pick up a ton of stuff every month, i'll throw in free shipping as well. we also sell trades, manga, pretty much you name it. if we don't have it, we can order it.
i know i've made these offer a few times on here, and have had a few takers. we got comics to sell at pretty decent prices, and if anyone is interested, i'm more than happy to help out. i would be lost if our shop was as *SQUEE* as some of the places i've read about. the fact that we've been in business over 14 years and are the only shop in town still around says a lot to me. but you can be the judge of that
