The only "for sure" is that it hasn't been listed on a shipping invoice, yet.

All else is but speculation.

EDIT - I'd also add that VALIANT was very prompt with me in my query and very quick in reaction. We deal with just about every book publisher in the UK and U.S. and typically if one doesn't follow through (which has happened twice - and we generally have 4-6 contests active on any given day) I dead them in terms of us having interest in accepting review galleys, direct interviews, us hosting future contests or carrying exclusive excerpts of their material.

When you are juggling and picking through several dozen publishers putting out new material daily you don't have time for *SQUEE* and VALIANT didn't BS me and I look forward to more future features (if it is applicable - I don't know anything about their where their business stands)

In my limited dealing with comic book publishers I find this not to be the norm as I have found most comic publishers (big and small) have absolutely incompetent or non-existent people working in their publicity departments in terms of online marketing. It's very frustrating.

How to help the comics industry? I'd bet anything if they all hired publicists worth a damn you'd see a 10% increase in interest/sales across the board. They need to steal some of these people from book publishers who make sure it's impossible for you to not know everything they have coming out!

Awesome heads up and thank you very much!

I did announce this (contest) on this boards here:

viewtopic.php?t=24271
I had forgotten the contest mentioned it was for the X-O trade but hey, I'll take this one
No it didn't:

http://www.bookspotcentral.com/2008/10/ ... ithograph/

The grandprize winner won an X-O litho and the A&A HC.

The 'physical address' is probably the home address of my business partner who sent it.
You're right, it did say that. I'll admit I just scanned through the original post when everyone started discussing it. Like I said, I hope this is a sign that everyone else will be getting theirs soon. :thumb:

All this really means is that VEI has the HC's in thier possession yet are not allowed to sell them.

But it looks like they can give them away..... :hm:

I really wonder if anyone had ordered on Amazon if they might have got it.

maybe if they gave one to me,
I would give them cash :hm:

only if giving them cash and then getting a copy doesn't work.

Not yet. I still haven't received my copy from DCBS and haven't received any update from them. Hopefully soon.

what i said originally was said rather tongue in cheek-but if they aren't allowed to release them via normal channels, but can give them out as prizes, my idea might not be so bad oafter all-better than getting stuck with a bunch of books that you can't sell. at least temporarily, it might help.

I assume there will be skill testing questions, involved, yes?

"What was the name of Armstrong's wife?"

you know. To keep the contest relevant and all.

Ok it took me half a lifetime, but i finally read this whole thread.

Its weird how much specualtion can arise when the people who this site is geared up for supporting go all hush.

I dont want to add to any possible negative speculation here, but am slightly worried that Dino hasnt posted on the site since September 25th.

So one can only assume that the legal problems people here have suggested might be ongoing really are the reason.

There is no other logical reason for VEI to not have spoken up to clarify their position.

Thats well over a month which is one big gap and so therfore until i hear different i will have to believe there is a gag order preventing any further info on both the release of the A&A HDBK and the possible problems with GK and DH.

that's too hard-they need a question like:

So one fan with an opinion send him of in a huff??

How is he going to act when the critics start?

Actually, I was thinking "one customer with an opinion . . ."

Which would be even worse, if true, because a fan does not necessarily equate to a customer. A customer brings money to the table and actively supports the publisher; a fan not so much.

IMO, a simple "We can't talk about it." would go a long way, which is all jedi was asking all along.

What do we know: Not much really. The book grifter received might be one of the "unacceptable" volumes and the changes VEI wanted have not happened yet. (PURELY SPECULATION ON MY PART)

The lack of any information or even acknowledgement of the issue is frustrating and, again in my opinion only, unprofessional.
