That may be the case. They might very well have those rights. I tend to believe that they did/do. The one thing I will say about VEI is that they have been very cautious with legal situations.slym2none wrote:Wow... okay, then.....

People are speculating.

Well, they (DH) already had the reprint rights to those characters, as evidenced by the HC's they were/are selling. I'm guessing the rights to print NEW material came up in a final way sometime between the X-O and the A&A HC's....turborip wrote:When did DH acquire the GK3 rights compared to the X-O HC also? Doesn't Solar make a one-page app. in that also?slym2none wrote:If this latest speculation is anywhere near the truth, then why was the Harbinger HC ever released? It has the same red pajama-wearing guy in it, too...

This is only an educated guess, however. Somewhere along the lines here, I missed where it was initially said that DH was going to start printing new material using these characters.

It was an offhand remark by some Dark Horse higher-up at San Diego of this year. Newsarama released an article about it.slym2none wrote:This is only an educated guess, however. Licensing can be funny stuff. IDW now has the reprint rights to the old Marvel GI Joe stuff as part of their recent license. The deal between Western Media and Dark Horse could have similar provisions.
From what I understand of dirivative work based on a licensed property, the original owner has to give permission to the person creating the dirivative work to create it. I would imagine this applies to reprint rights as well. Who knows?
If I were Dark Horse, and was planning to release new Magnus, Solar, and Turok material, I wouldn't want VEI printing material with those characters in it. Brand purity and all that.

Thats what we HAVE been doing for enough time. The amount of time this has gone on Others should start asking the questions to VEI. Like Newsarama and other comic news sites. Every time something Valiant related came up on Newsarama it brought a nice bump to there site and was quite popular...Daniel Jackson wrote:I'm sure their goal is to get that book into our hands and not leave the fans hanging.
Obviously something has happened and all we can do is speculate as to what the problem is.
I'm just saying it's about time someone Else besides us begin questioning this release or lack there of.

It is surprising that it's not being talked about elsewhere.betterthanezra wrote:Thats what we HAVE been doing for enough time. Goes to show you the lack of interest outside this site when it comes to VEI.Daniel Jackson wrote:It is surprising that it's not being talked about elsewhere.betterthanezra wrote:Thats what we HAVE been doing for enough time. i think that is very true, and the problem, nobody really has any interest in this book (outside of this site) and i don't ever see it comingjedimarley wrote:Goes to show you the lack of interest outside this site when it comes to VEI.Daniel Jackson wrote:It is surprising that it's not being talked about elsewhere.betterthanezra wrote:Thats what we HAVE been doing for enough time. I think there is interest other than just the members of this board. Valiant didn't get to be as huge as it used to be with just us buying those books. Whether or not VEI can recapture that again remains to be seen though.hellboydce wrote:i think that is very true, and the problem, nobody really has any interest in this book (outside of this site) and i don't ever see it comingjedimarley wrote:Goes to show you the lack of interest outside this site when it comes to VEI.Daniel Jackson wrote:It is surprising that it's not being talked about elsewhere.betterthanezra wrote:Thats what we HAVE been doing for enough time. If what we have been speculating is true, it's not their fault that they can't release the A&A book now. They have certainly done a good job so far with the two hardcovers that have been released.

with absolutely ZERO knowledge of what is truly going on, i think that it is safe to say that they can't release it right now-dino said the book was done and ready to ship-so if they could-they would-they gain nothing, and lose plenty by not shipping it-which seems to indicate that some "outside force" is preventing them-which again i would hazard to guess is not their fault as dj just stated.Daniel Jackson wrote:hellboydce wrote:it's not their fault that they can't release the A&A book now.
