I actually like the fact that out of all of them, "eternal brothers," a barbarian in living alien armour, and Solar (nuff said!) - Erica seemed to fear Rai the most.dave wrote:the thing about rai vs erica is how surprised you were-woah...is he dead? as in dead, dead?

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I liked all the prologues in EW.
Japan using the plasma cannon on the spider aliens.
When solar absorbed Galye.
When Magnus did brain surgery on himself and removed the "hearing-robot-communications-thingy"
When Master Darque cut ol'e Buck's McHenry with his fingernail.
When Jack was blood-running....... his eyes were all bleeding..... cool.
I did also think it was stunning when they blew Big Boy's head apart.
Those are just a few of the top of my head.

I think my most favorite Valiant moment was when I was a young Soldier stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and I was up in my apartment banging away on some Fayetteville chick and it got so intense that my Valiant comic book stack fell off my nightstand. I halted the moment right then and there... disengaged, picked up my books, set them back on the nightstand and went back to my bidness.

yeah, those last few BWS issues had some awesome moments. like Armstrong telling Archer he mad stonehenge. my Valiant moment would be in Shadowman #10 where, despite getting beaten to a pulp and taunted by Darque, Jack still had the balls to taunt Darque with that 7th son song.dave wrote:the way silvio kept showing up trying to get muhammed to drink...bet you really worked up a thirst by now, eh?
can't you see i'm in the middle of something!

I liked the ending to the Malev war.
It was the event for the future-set books, and it's conclusion was satisfying. Victory didn't come cheap, and you got the sense that the other characters were really pushing themselves, especially with Magnus killing Rai. Not everyone made it, and no one was going to be the same again. It felt like a war, which is exactly how it should have felt.

Great question!
So many to choose... and in no particular order...Solar turning himself into a black hole, the fight between Solar and X-O (Solar 17 I think), X-O vs. EW (X-O Yearbook), Rai impaling the ninjatron on his arm (Rai 2), Rai juicing the shuttles engine (Rai 5), Rai's death (Rai 7), and the end of Rai 1.
Just a few examples.

Also, reading the end to Alpha and Omega. Rai getting incineratedin Unity. Solar sending the Robot to another time in A&A.Brother J wrote:The death of Torque was a very strong VALIANT moment. He didn't die saving the universe, his death was pretty senseless.
...and he stayed dead. Almost unheard of in comics.

another classic moment...the artist did a great job of showing the surprise on the face of the worker as well.Chiclo wrote:There are many to choose from, but right now the one that jumps out at me was when Aric was mediating the labour dispute in the first X-O Unity issue (8?) and offers the year's salary of the one accountant to the union men in gold.
magnus 20. if i recall correctly is the story of magnus meeting the girl.
14 and 15 were some of the very best magnus issues-and i already think that 1-8 make up one of the best story arcs ever!

i jut reread a and a 1 and 2 and there are at least 30 great moments in those two books alone:
Aram: lookit this-i'm on fire now!
Gilly: hm. yes, you are.
prelate rejj: who are you?
aram: me? i'm a natrual fertilizer salesman-but seems like you've got plenty here, so...
as archer is describing his own incredible past aram whispers
"stretch it kiddo..."
after hearing erica's plan to remake the world
aram: what put her in such a snit?
rejj: you'd better ripen by tomorrow, master banana.
aram suggesting that he fix up the uptight erica with his brother
aram: how do you mutter under your breath? you don't breath.
he's trying to deny that he just stopped insulting you.
no*i*am*not
aram: can you deny that i'm saying you called this man a bloated weasel?
of*course*not
Albert: how dare you! you must be malfunct!
armstrong remembered my name?
armstrong why doesn't he shoot?
I betcha half a buck she shoots him first.
hey you know those glints around your eyes really lend a smoldering sensual quality to your features
now there's something you don't see everyday...
a warrior in exoskeleton wrestling a bionic dinosaur?
oh, i thought they were trying to mate.
and plenty more! everyone should read these again!

Its not that impressive though if you put into consideration Valiant was only published for 8 years. Jean Grey, Bucky, Captain America and Barry Allen stayed dead longer.Brother J wrote:The death of Torque was a very strong VALIANT moment. What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

oh fiddlesticks-you have to count all the time-and he's still dead!
just kidding-but they killed him off, and you know that they were gonna keep him dead. it is pretty unheard of, maniac, rai (tohru) and the others who died and stayed dead.
but back to archer and armstrong-in issue number 5 when archer meets andromeda for the first time
andy: aram, you caught me bathing
aram: you look gorgeous honey-meet a pal of mine
archer: gosh-andromeda! goddess! i mean archer--armstrong! misses armstrong!
andy: what a curious young man
arch: i fall before you on my mortal knees.
andy: why is he on his knees?
aram: you alright kid? you're not gonna wet yourself in front of the misses are ya?
arch: i'm sorry, misses armstrong,i...
andy: oh, did you wet yourself, poor thing?
arch: no! of course not! that's just your husband's silly sense of humor-aha-ha
andy: aram you wonderful man...you've taken a *SQUEE* person into your tutelage.
classic!

Yeah, but they all came back (or in Cap's case, going to soon.) Torque is still dead.Zaphod wrote:Its not that impressive though if you put into consideration Valiant was only published for 8 years.
