Dr. Mirage VVSS

Post by caxiotis »

So I remember that someone had a Dr. Mirage VVSS COA a while back and there was speculation about whether any were actually made. i just found this in my Valiant Marketing Plan '93 book. Thought it was interesting that they have the Dr. Mirage VVSS as a planned promotion. Was anything more found out about this? Also, could there be any X-O or Secret Weapons COA's hanging around somewhere?

Possible I suppose, but I rather doubt it.

I think we have asked Bernard this at one point...

He has said that he signed a stack (or 2) of them for what he thought was for a VVSS...nothing really happened from it after. Besides the few certificates that have surfaced thats about all we know at this point.

My question was why only have Bernard sign them? Ken Branch would have been a nice addition to that project. Even Bob Layton not many "Official" VVSS only had 1 signature...in fact I don't think any had just one.

Do we know for certain that no one else signed them? Its possible that others signed the books at a later time or at least were intended to sign them later.

So far as I know only the certificate have been found.

Someone might need to correct me on this, but I think there's been no more then three of the certs come to light.

1 or maybe 2 partials (meaning they were either cut in half or damned close to it), and 1 or maybe 2 whole.

I know there's at least one whole certificate found, because I'm the lucky bastich that found it in the back of a Turok #1 VVSS.

I think he's referring to the second page where they only have 1 listed signature (BC's) with the SLODM #1. :?

I picked up a copy of The Visitor signed by B.Chang in a VVSS holder back in May. I am not saying it was meant to be VVSS, but it's kinda cool. I will post a scan later.

I've bought quite a few non V.V.S.S. books over the years that came in the Valiant mylar. It's a shame the mylar doesn't hold up very well.

It's kinda of ironic that these "mylars" don't hold up. I remember back in the 90's how these were meant to save your comics for eternity.

Well, if they were REAL Mylar, it would be different.

And is there anyone else who had to go through their collection and change out over 200 of those things because (luckily) they started to chip and crack (I used to use Ultra-Pro brand) and afterward, find out that most cases involved the covers sticking to the inside of the "page?"

:? :!:

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Should definitely be easy enough to find large quantities if someone wanted to make a project with them.
