Who else tries to get their significant other to read?

I got my wife to read at least up until the end of unity. She has steadily been reading more at a sitting. It took about a week to read magnus 1-4, but then only took 1 day to read solar 1-4. She only has xo 5,6, magnus, 9-1?, and rai 1-5 to read before she starts unity. She seems like she is getting hooked. I printed out a check list so she can check off the issues that she hsa read!!!! At her request, I might add!!!!!!!
Anyway, does anyone else try and get their other to read? I know at least a few of you do. What kind of progress are you making? Does she/he get into it as they read? My wife seems to be totally getting into it!!! Hopefully she will understand my compulsive need to but the original art and stuff that I see come up

A couple years ago I got my wife to read the first three TPB of Strangers in Paradise. She liked them...thought they were interesting...and that was about it.

My wife is the hoity-toity type. She reads the New Yorkers and the New York Times. She's wicked smart and think she is above most people...including me. This is why I married her...she makes the big bucks.

But as for reading comics, she looks at me and thinks I'm 'silly' for READING comics but thinks it's 'incredible' that I can paid to WRITE and WRITE ABOUT comics.

I call her a hypocrite and she just shrugs and says, "So."

Yeah I tired, but she never even picked the books up...I bought a bunch of .25 books at the last con I went to..stuff like...fantastic four, spider-man, avegners, and the like...but she would not touch them...I kinda wish that she would read comics but then again it is fun to get out to the shows and be alone for a little bit...I hope that she does not read this.

My S.O. has a large collection of Tintin and Blueberry (all in french) of her own. I introduced her to US comics via the Watchmen. She read every issue and was impressed.
She didn't really get into Valiant, but she bought me Magnus #1 as a present back in the early nineties when it cost £20 ($40) in England. It was the only issue I hadn't got apart from #0.

My wife has read all of our graphic novels (Sandman X 5, Watchmen, Harbinger, Mad Love, others) and I gave here Archer and Armstrong last year because 1-12 are just so darn good (maybe it should have been a maxi-series instead of ongoing)

my significant other is sitting right here-i got her to read a capt america the other day (she's very patriotic) when she finished it she asked me, "Why do you make me read this stuff?"

i thought it would work...i figured since his muscles look so much like mine she might like it...

she began the magnus steel nation and seemed impressed that it wasn't just beat em up smash em up-but she put it down and hasn't picked it back up yet...maybe tonight!

"Not" she just replied!

oh well.

My significant other always changes every 4-6 monthes! I rarely let them know I'm into comics... but it be nice to share that interest.

i feel kinda lame now...going to bed and "hoping to get lucky" means that my wife would read my comic book...what a loser...

You know being married 9 years this year I have gotten my wife to read the following titles
Second life of dr.Mirage (she read them when they came out and liked it)
Trinty angels
She did like Unity (so long ago I bet she forgot she even read it)

She still reads
Strangers in Paridise (she has almost 8 years now)
Thieves and kings (great little book try it sometimes)
and the new pirate crossgen book ElCazare (something like that)

It also took a season and a half but I got her hooked on the TV show 24.
That returns this tuesday cant wait.

I've tried to get my wife to read/be interested in my comic books, but she says she has grown up (unlike us grown men who collect comic books, and are trying to relive our youth!). She just said, I don't read the books she tries to get me to read, so why should she. Wonder just what the average age for us is? Hmmmmm.....I'm 34. But, hey! My little girls (8 & 10) are really getting into the comics now though!!!!! You know what they say about youth being wasted on the young...

My wife will only read what she terms "believable" comics. To her these are oridinary people who have no special powers.

These include:

Batman
Iron Man
Punisher
Captain America

Of course this was 10 years ago when we were both younger and first married.

The only comics she reads now are those Archie Digest at the grocery checkout

you know what you need? you need some acclaim illustrated classics like tom sawyer, jane eyre etc...which i just happen to have for sale for a limited time! act now and i'll throw in a pampered chef quik-cut knife with any order...

I used to get my wife to read Solar, Man of the Atom!

Of course, that was before she was painting in Valiant-Vision with the 3D glasses on, which made her have to wear REAL glasses for six months....

24 is the best show on TV. Cant wait to see what happens after the last one with the bomb.

Yeah I agree that 24 is the best show and from what I have read this weeks episode ends many of the subplots and gets right to the meat of the story!!!!!
