Dr. Doom with the Infinity Gauntlet!
I don't know what this is, there's no title or info attached to it, it's just a teaser image that Marvel put out.
Check out the reflection on Doom's armor. It shows the Celestials and his battle with the Beyonder in the first Secret Wars:

And does anybody think that giving the Infinity Gems to members of the Illuminati was a DUMB idea on Reed Richards part?
I mean, I understand separating them, but is it really that intelligent to keep them all on Earth (except for Black Bolt's) and all with people who know each other.
Spreading them throughout the galaxy and giving them to people who don't know the identities of the other holders would be a lot safer.
That was still a GREAT issue.

I don't know if it was dumb. I mean, what would you do with them? You definitely have to separate them, but I would think that you would want them in the hands of people you trust, which is what he did.Tim wrote:And does anybody think that giving the Infinity Gems to members of the Illuminati was a DUMB idea on Reed Richards part?

I agree, but I wasn't talking about the bearers not being trustworthy. I mean, if they were discovered and some cosmic entity wanted to get hold of them they could just make one stop on Earth and be done with it.
If it were me, I'd make myself a Gauntlet and use them.
But if I were more noble, I'd find a way to disperse them millions of light years apart and I'd make sure that even I didn't know where they were.
I would assume Richards would have the capacity to re-locate them to different realities as well, or at least different times.
They were probably just setting up a future story, though, which that picture probably confirms.

Well, that was a long time ago in the Warlock and Infinity Watch series, so I'm not sure it still holds. Maybe Doom found a way to overcome LT's edict.Brent wrote:But the gems don't even work together anymoreTim wrote:And does anybody think that giving the Infinity Gems to members of the Illuminati was a DUMB idea on Reed Richards part?

Then how did Reed use them to try and will them out of existence?Brent wrote: But the gems don't even work together anymore
Also, I don't think the Watcher would have been so critical of Reed fo rtrying to use them if they wouldn't work.
Also, I don't think the Tribunal ever had any REAL power over the Gems in the first place.

Yeah, I remember that it was implied they he did, but Warlock suggested that they were equal.Tim wrote:Then how did Reed use them to try and will them out of existence?Brent wrote: But the gems don't even work together anymore

See, I'm just the opposite. I'd be afraid that someone could locate them even if they were dispersed light years apart. After all, Thanos found them all when he gathered them together originally.Tim wrote:I agree, but I wasn't talking about the bearers not being trustworthy. Yes, it would be a good fight but Thanos was to the point that he could humble Galactus if the need arose and he has since become death.
Again?Lightning Strike wrote:Now that would be one heck of a battle! Doom vs. Thanos? That would be cool!Tim wrote:All I know is that it's lucky for Doom that Thanos is dead.

Following Annihilation 6, Starlin said that people were discounting Thanos as dead when he might have become death (lower case d).Tim wrote:He's become Death? I don't remember the citation. I think I read it on Corvus' Thanos site.
Death had been flirting with Thanos since his 12-issue series, which was awesome. His swan song in Annihilation 4 was a fitting end that satisfied this Thanos groupie.

Huh, I never even thought of that. In any case, you just know Thanos will be back at some point.Chiclo wrote:Following Annihilation 6, Starlin said that people were discounting Thanos as dead when he might have become death (lower case d).Tim wrote:He's become Death? He had one.Dr. Solar wrote:I haven't...Brent wrote:Have you read Emperor Doom. He conquered the world and he didnt like itDr. Solar wrote:Poor Doom.
He'll probably just bungle it up in the end, as usual.
I think what Doom REALLY needs is a nice woman who will love him, hold him, and treat him well.
His mother.
That was one thing I liked better about pre-Crisis Doom. This backstory they have given him is pretty weak. Kind of like Darth Vader, the less with his childhood, the better.
