Looking to buy a scanner
Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy a scanner so I can scan art and comics, any suggestions?
I'd like to spend under $100.
What do you guys have and how are they treating you?
thanks

Re: Looking to buy a scanner
You will not be able to find a scanner that will be large enough to scan 11 x 17 artwork for under $100.00. The cheapest you will find for 11 x 17 would be at least $200 to $300. I use a Mustek A3 USB. It was about $350. It is only 600 DPI but that is plenty for 11 x 17 B&W artwork. It is also fine for color scanning for posting online. If you need higher quality for color you can get "normal" size color scanners under $50.00 that are really good and have 1800 to 2400 DPI.dino wrote:Hey guys,

Wow the price has really come down on it. I got mine 2 years ago and most 11 x 17 scanners were at least 600+ and good ones 1000+. I have been really happy with mine. 600 dpi is high enough to scan B&W artwork for printing but not so for color.chimchim wrote:The Mustek A3 usb goes for about $150 now.
I think I got it from Provantage.com. Good for scanning Large Comic art, not good for much else

This is a good scanner.

I DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR ABSORB SOULS, DAMMIT!
I completely agree with that statement and encourage anyone looking to buy a scanner for scanning full size art to avoid the smaller models.X-O HoboJoe wrote:As for using PS to assemble the page after the fact; it's a major pain in the arse.
Piecing a paneled page together is annoying enough, putting together a full page splash is a joke.
