You can use it for both, but I'll assume it's only about 1-2 in wide so it wont be that big.

More Valiants back from LBC

Post by Steve Topper »

Thursday I received two more bound Valiant collections back -- H.A.R.D. Corps Books 1 and 2. That means I have 41 of my projected 48 volume collection done.

I need to take some pictures of the complete set so far and post them, even though I'm four dust jackets behind. Maybe if work lets up a bit this week I'll get that done.

If you've got a paypal account, I'd be willing to send you a few bucks after my next payday.

It's only going to be on the spine. The reason it's so big is so they have a large image to work with for the die. I should know more info Monday or Tuesday about the final price.

Just got a response from Jim at Library. It's a no go on the dye. He said the logo needs to be 3 sizes larger than the actual dye, and it also needs to be more bold. The lines around the compass are not bold enough and the Valiant letters are too thin too.

The logo I made came from a 600 dpi scan from one of the comics, anyone have any other ideas/suggestions?

Oh, and welcome to the boards Trav!!

Trav.. will you be printing up dust jackets for your books as well as the logo on the spine?

Id like to put the logo on.. and I might.. but it seems a waste if you cannot see it while having a dusk jacket on..

Check out some of the dustjackets that a few others have created.. they are top notch!

Travazz is very familiar with the dust jackets here! He and I go to the same comic shop here in Dayton and we've been talking about binding for a while now!

He's come up with great designs for some of his non-Valiant bindings and I've photoshopped them for him and kept those designs in my files. They've made some great inspirations!

So this will need to be two dies then? One for a thicker large Valiant logo and one ofr the compass with a thickened line around the outside?

I'll try using AutoCAD and see if I can make something work that they can use.

Photos of my bound Valiants

Post by Steve Topper »

It's been a while since I posted any photos of my bound Valiants. Right now, i Have 41 Valiant hardcovers, not including Alpha & Omega, X-O Rebirth and Harbinger the Beginning. I have another seven more books planned and I will have my complete Valiant library -- every story bound in hardcovers.

I still have a couple dust jackets to makes, so there are a couple books that look out of place but for now, it's what I have.

So without further ado.

Shelf 1 and 2: Archer & Armstrong through Trinity Angels

Image

Shelf 3 and 4: Troublemakers through X-O Manowar (along with Warlord Books 1 and 2, Action Comics 300-320, and Shelf 4 contains Silver Age Superman 149 - 423)

Image

On tap for binding and going out next Tuesday -- Rai books 1 and 2; Ninjak books 1 and 2, Vintage Magnus and other Gold Key, Valiant Miscellany and Acclaim Miscellany

That is such a sweet collection.
I'd rather see that then Wright-Pat the next time I am in Dayton.

Neil,

Let me know the next time you come to Dayton.

Do you come down to work at Wright-Pat/with Wright-Pat? Just curious since I work over there myself.

I havent been to Southern Ohio in a few years. But I will certainly get in touch if I do.

I got sent down there a few times with my past jobs but my current job has 0% traveling, which is both good and bad.

I have an uncle who was stationed on the base as an engineer, then retired and got hired to do basically the same job only as a civilian. That's why i got to do the museum tour a lot as a kid.

Absolutely!! A buddy of mine from Baltimore, my youngest son and I will be going on Saturday. No plans beyond just going at this time, although I do want to get Mike Grell to autograph or sketch in my Warlord books.

Are you going? I believe whovianone is planning on being there as well.

So good news, I got an email from Jim today and the second image I sent him was approved for a cover and a spine dye. It's a picture of the logo I already posted, I just had to clean it up. It's going to be a 1" spine dye and a 4.5" cover dye. It's going to cost around $110 for both of them to be made. They are going to be made for public use so everyone will be able to use them.

The cost is length*width*$5 for a rough estimate of the cost.

If your interested in chipping in, shoot me a PM and we'll work something out there.
