I've managed to track down the meaning of this phrase:ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:A "giant fracas ensued".....?

And....which one of us "insisted" that this was a "mis-labeled gold variant"....?

People suck.
But hey, it's the "only one EVERY graded!"...whatever THAT means.
This is from the "original" doosh-ese....

There's a huge scan with that ad for the Harby, typical problem areas around the top and middle staple and a cover that looks like it has been shrunk! 9.8 I think not.Jay Tomio wrote:That's why it's a great deal now!
It's controversial fellas - and while your there check out the great PGX 9.8 Harby#1 for 2,500+![]()

It's not. It's a different seller.Jrdawg wrote:Sounds like the same guy who had it posted on ebay for 5k.
I will say this about PGX. I have a Harbinger 1 in PGX 9.6 and they forgot to mention anything on the notes on the case about the coupon, whether it has it or not. That's inexcusable for a company calling themselves a professional grading service.
Wow. CGC did the same thing. I'd no idea.Jay Tomio wrote:Well, to be fair I have a CGC slab like that with the same issue (and of the same issue) actually.StarBrand wrote:It's not. It's a different seller.Jrdawg wrote:Sounds like the same guy who had it posted on ebay for 5k.

That really devalues the book, unless there's no coupon in it.
They'd give it a green label as a qualified book if they were grading it as qualified. Leaving any commentary completely off regarding the coupon makes it uncertain as to whether they even checked for the coupon, or completely forgot about it. At least, that's how I feel about it. Maybe others won't feel the same way.Jay Tomio wrote:Not really - apparently they'd give it a green label with no coupons. At least according to Gregory. I'm not sure if that's true or not.StarBrand wrote:Wow. CGC did the same thing. Thanks for pointing that out, though. That's a pretty big mistake by CGC, equalling the mistake I pointed out by PGX.

Actually, I think all the label's, blue or green, say that the coupon is included. The area on the right side is used for book specific information and is the same for every book.
If the cards or coupon is missing, the book will have a green qualified label and the reason for the qualification is in the center of the label.
I believe you can see this in action with the Harby 3 9.8 - GLOD (no coupon) that I donated to a board auction over a year ago. This book still said "coupon included" on the right side of the label. I can't locate the scan at the moment, though.

You can call CGC toll free and the grader's notes will say whether the coupon is included or not even if the label fails to mention it. But, it should be on the label.StarBrand wrote:Wow.
