Yo.

So, in my continuing battle against overgrading sellers, I have received lots and lots and lots and lots.....and lots.....and lots and lots of overgraded books.

Here's one lot that was overgraded. Books were described as VF to NM with "the majority being NM".

Unfortunately, seller doesn't understand that books with detached staples, bug chew holes, tears, folds, creases, residue on the covers, stains, tanning, etc, aren't allowed in "VF to NM." Half the books were in less than VF to NM condition, including the most key book, Spidey #431 (detached top staple and residue on cover.)

Here's pics:

Now, seller did give me a refund, after sending me a really nasty e-mail, and said he didn't want the books back.

So...since I ended up not paying anything for them, I'm passing them on to you, for free....just the cost of postage.

Take one, take all, pay the postage, they're yours. First "I'll take it" gets 'em.

Amazing Spiderman #355, 364, 372, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 398, 399, 406, 408, 411, 412, 414, 416, 418, 420, 427, 428, 431 (Carnage), 432, 438, 441.

There ya go.

Now go bid on my stuff. :)

By the way, sorry this didn't end up being what you expected Z...didn't mean to sound so excited about you getting a crappy seller.

No problem...it's par for the course.

About half the books were just fine, but the ones that weren't were spectacular (no pun intended.)

The other lot I got, the Spectacular #187 has about 2 inches of spine eaten away. Here's the picture....

Image

#187 is the second book in from the right.

See that white area along the middle of the spine? You're looking at the first page underneath. It's relatively obvious now that the book is in hand, but how could you possibly know that without book in hand?

Conversely, how could the seller have this same book IN HAND:

Image

....and say "ALL COMICS VF TO NM, MAJORITY NEAR MINT".....?

How?

Here's his pic showing #356, from above:

Image

#356 is, again, second one from right. Look closely at the spine, you'll see the damage shown above.

But if you don't know it's there, how can you possibly figure that out?

The SELLER has the item IN HAND, and the SELLER is responsible for pointing this stuff out. Nobody but the blind could have missed a lot of this damage.

Sometimes I think that maybe I'm being unreasonable...then I get lots like this....and I realize, I'm really being very fair, especially under the circumstances.

Look at #391. It's a wreck. Large tears, multiple creases. #388's got that big splotch stain on it, who knows what it is...#356 has been bug eaten with holes...#431 and 432 detached staples. Several of the books badly tanned (for 90's books) because they'd been exposed to heat for a long period of time.

It looks like a collection that somebody didn't take care of, and sloppily read and then put in new bags and boards and sold as "VF to NM, the majority NM!"

If the guy had just said "many VF to NM, a few in lesser condition, some w/detached staples and whatnot", I would have passed. I'm not interested in low grade books cluttering up my storage, I have enough as it is.

BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FAIRLY OFFERED AND FAIRLY MADE.

Is that SO hard?

The funny thing is, now that I KNOW the damage is there, I can now see the bug chew

I had to file a Paypal claim, and the guy got really *SQUEE*. I said in the claim I'd be happy to return the books for a full refund OR accept an appropriate partial refund (since the only books I wanted were #430 and 431) but the guy refunded the whole thing and said he didn't want the books back.

So, I kept some of them for the hassle, and the rest I'm giving to you.

I should probably send the guy a partial fair payment for the books I'm keeping.... :hm: But then again, he did send me a bunch of just junk books and wasted my time.

And my negs are the only negs he's gotten. :?

My guess is that the other buyers didn't bother looking past the new bags and boards, or don't care about grading. That's my only guess.

Screw him for messing you around.

If you did the right thing and he could not, then what else is there to do.

Sure if you got a full refund send him some back for the good ones regardless of how crappy he was, but let him understand the neg was deserved.

Oh, the negs were completely deserved. Anyone who wants to fight with me...not just disagree, but fight, and tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, when the evidence is right in front of my face....gets a neg, period.

There are lots of sellers who have gotten positive feedback from me, because they worked things out.

It doesn't matter if the Carnage Surfer is ripped.

It will look nice sat next to the copy of Marvel Fanfare that Draco and I scrunched up into a ball, kicked and threw around for a bit, jumped on and then ran over with the van.

Wow, I've not seen a lot that bad off than when I bought a dozen DC War books that were stated to be F to NM, and all but 2 were WAY below F, and only one was VF, no NM. :|

There were 3 coverless books, so there ya go. ;)
