Well, regardless of what is true about media mail there are just too many reasons to avoid using it.
I have purchased plenty of books that have come media mail and priority mail. The books shipped media mail are probably 10 times more likely to come damaged.
I'll ship media mail if someone wants me to, but I will include insurance prices in thers no matter what. Postal insurance means that your books are 10 times LESS likely to get damaged no matter what method you use to ship.
Bottom line is either way I lose as the seller when it comes to shipping. I charge more for shipping and I get lower bids on my auctions. I charge less for shipping and I have to make up the difference out of the proceeds from the auctions.
What to do?

That's the fault of the shipper, not the USPS. If the shipper packs the books properly, damage is entirely avoidable in 99% of every shipment.nutflush76 wrote:Well, regardless of what is true about media mail there are just too many reasons to avoid using it.

Hell, I had two different priority BOXED shipments for CGC books that were broken because the seller couldn't be bothered to pack them correctly.

I think you're overworrying it. I don't think you're getting lower bids on your items if you're on the average with other sellers.Bottom line is either way I lose as the seller when it comes to shipping. I think you have to offer Media Mail, especially for lots, to be able to compete. But no buyer truly expects sellers to pay out of pocket for shipping costs. If it costs $3.65 for shipping, and you charge $5, I don't think any but the most incredibly unreasonable buyer will have a problem.

I often ship media mail, my Post Office has no problem with it and I haven't had anything damaged as I pack those books as well as anything I ship out.
The one thing with media mail is that it frequently takes much longer to arrive, but it seems like if you use Delivery Confirmation, they are quicker to ship them. I have no documented proof on that, but it at least seems that way.

I can't believe these books haven't moved in price. There's really no accounting for taste![]()
Even though Magnus and Solar havent been reprinted by VEI you would hope that the renewed interest in VALIANT would mean renewed interest in these 2 books as well.
so many i just know i will never want to own them myself in that form.
I love being able to flick through mine.

If that's what you want, I'm perfectly fine with that.
