Who owns the rights to "UNITY" Saga and the 18 cha
Since MAGNUS, Robot Fighter , Turok, and Dr. Solar, Man of the Atom have reverted back to its owner (Random House)
who owns the rights to the Mega crossover "UNITY" Saga and the 18 chapters that are a part of it?
Magnus, Turok & Solar do make appearances. Can Valiant Entertainment, Inc. still get it reprinted in hardcover form like it has with X-O Manowar and Harbinger?
Would be great if this can be reprinted as a hardbound edition.

Good question...
I'm sure that circumstances like this certainly complicate things.
Interstingly enough, the Archer & Armstrong hardcover will have Turok in it, since he was in issue 2. That is now two of the three of the Gold Key 3 that will be reprinted, though in a minor role, in the hardcovers.
Magnus may even be in the background of A&A 1 when they first get to the lost land..

VEI owns all the rights to reprint material published previously by Valiant and Acclaim.
The issue of use only becomes a problem with new material.

From an earlier post... just a little extra info...
in that VEI can reprint previously printed materials with Magnus, Solar, and Turok,
but they cannot create new works without proper licensing.
As far as Unity "as a whole" is concerned, I believe x-omatic is correct, greg wrote: With regard to the appearances of Magnus, Solar, and Turok in #1 and #2,
I would assume there are going to be approximately 200 pages in the hardcover,
with an average of 4 or 5 panels per page.
That's 800 to 1,000 panels of art.
Magnus, Solar, and Turok appear in 28 total panels in Archer & Armstrong #1 and #2.
28 out of 800 does not constitute a significant amount of the hardcover book... about 3%-4%.
I seriously doubt if VEI would need any special permissions or
any other contracts in order to reprint Archer & Armstrong #0-#6.

So does that mean VEI could reprint the Valiant Magnus, Solar, and Turok stories or even the entire Unity crossover in various hardcovers as long as they just don't have any new content (like the short stories in the earlier hardcovers) with those characters?greg wrote:From an earlier post... just a little extra info...

Thats a good sign. I am hoping that THEY CAN REPRINT "UNITY" in a new volume with remastered colors. I hope that Valiant Entertainment owns the UNITY storyline too and that no editing would be necessary.Dr. Solar wrote:Good question...

They could reprint poster of those made Valiant back in the day, or of covers that were already drawn.raffya wrote:****YAY!!! Thank goodness for that!! I hope they reprint UNITY!!x-omatic wrote:VEI owns all the rights to reprint material published previously by Valiant and Acclaim.

REPRINT THE POSTERS !! Maybe even produce Action figures !!
Toys of Turok, Magnus, and Solar. No, they don't own the rights to them.
Toys of X-O Manowar, Rai, Shadowman, and the rest yes.

***I know. Those were exciting. I also like the way the Original Valiant Logo looked. I never liked it when they switched to the plain "V" symbol.
Of course Toys of X-O Manowar, the Original RAI, Shadowman, Spider-Alien, Bloodshot would be fun.
Of course, if the toy company itself decided they want to do a line of TOYS with Random House (who now owns Magnus, Solar & Turok), that would be awesome too!!

Right on, Sanman !! By the way, I love your Avatar of RAI (Custom made Action figure)sanman wrote:And let’s not forget that Solar has already been reprinted in the Harbinger HC.
He really is the best version of RAI. His overall design is visually distinctive. The other 2 Rais that followed were never as visually interesting as the first.
Thanks for the feedback—he was made using MEGO style pieces from Dr. Mego and stands ‘8 tall. For additional pics check out the following thread:

Tohru Nakadai is my second favorite Valiant character next to X-O. I never really cared for the other RAI but his design was so distinctive—a missed opportunity killing him off during Unity. I hope VEI chooses to bring back in some way.
