I dunno, I am just a specialized grunt of sorts, snake-eater, knuckle-dragger, same same. Yeah, I been through some stuff but geez, I would not say that I am the sharpest knife in the drawer. I did quite a bit of nodding today as well as saying 'ahhhh' quite a bit. We will see... hahaha

"Department of Defense Contractor Mobile Training Team"

That's an impressive title - now we get to wonder just what you are training them for!

Old, old job... gotta figure out the new one myself.... uh how about book writer. I am writing Army Doctrine. This is an upper/inner circle here at the Fort. I basically write the books that Military Intelligence commanders will refer to when they do their job. I am being brought in to make sure that Special Operations Forces (SOF) are being incorporated into the MI scheme of thought. They are oft times left out as SOF have the ability to write their own Doctrine (i.e. the way they fight, collect intel etc) so MI does not even use them. BIG HUGE mistake. I am being brought in to fix this Army wide problem. I was pretty proud to get this position as my Director told me that it took 300 resumes to finally find the right guy. Not sure on how 'true' that is but it gave me a bit of a boost.

So, now I no longer instruct... I wonder how this will shape up.

Change is good though and I look forward to it.

Yes raffya, I have. But I will not get too excited until I see an actual movie. I really do hope that it works out.

If you visit www.valiantfans.com and sign up as a member, I am sure you will have plenty to read. I am not really sure how the 'VALIANT' forums work and how it is linked and so forth.

Glad I could share a bit of my good day with you. I am sure that there will be plenty more where this came from. Sometime you REALLY DO have to stop and smell the roses. We go about our lives, just trying to get through the day and forget just how lucky we are. I know that there are some who are very much worse off than I but I tend to waste the days away at times. When I am finished posting here I am going to enjoy a beautiful Arizona sunset with two of my daughters. A new job or a payraise can't even compare with that.

Welcome to the boards and thank you for your support of VALIANT.

Congrats, Chris. Sounds . . . interesting isn't quite the word I'm looking for. re: inserting SOF into doctrine is going to be a challenge. And it isn't an Army-wide problem. Same problem within the Air Force as well. I'm having to deal with the SOF trying to decide if they want to buy some unspecified number of the aircraft for the program I'm working. And trying to answer their technical/operational questions without knowing anything about their planned mission. And of course, they don't work through the normal DoD funding channels either.

But, I've found in my post-military career as a defense contractor, when a long screening process removes the chaff, it's generally a very good thing for the winner. Probably the best job security a defense contractor can get.

And (not to get too political at this juncture) but with a new administration coming in January (regardless of political affiliation), doctrine might just be changing again and will need to be rewritten. More job security.

Good luck!
