Yeah, Bloodshot dies in 2028.

The Acclaim series took place in a different universe, that's a completely different character.

In a way he did, except for Pete Stanchek, whose fate he left unresolved.

I like the collections because reprinting the originals is much better than doing a reboot and asking people to buy new stories to replace the old ones.

There's really nothing wrong with the origin stories that a reboot could fix. There would be nothing to gain from having Pete read a Harbinger blog and send an email as opposed to reading a newspaper and sending a letter. It would just be an aesthetic change to make the story seem more contemporary, while the plot would remain the same.

It's better this way, to make the original stories available to a new reading audience and then using that to create new contemporary stories that keep the story going without replacing anything.

You can't think like that. The hardcovers aren't really for the people that were there over a decade ago and got the originals. They are for the readers who in 91-96, when VALIANT came out, were too young to be aware of what it was and are now old enough to appreciate the concepts and buy the hardcovers with their own money.

The hardcovers are a tool to introduce the universe to an audience that barely remembers hearing about them the first time around or never knew what they were in the first place.

Those of us that already have the originals don't NEED to buy the hardcovers, we do it out of choice. I choose to buy them because of the new stories and to support VEI so that they'll be able to produce new stories down the road.

Yeah.

I stopped by an LCS today and asked the guy how the hcs were selling. He told me that he ordered two copies of the X-O Manowar hc and sold them bought, so he ordered two more (he had one left), and that the people who bought them were mostly people that remembered X-O from the first time around.

He said that he didn't order the Harbinger one, though. I did tell him about the A&A hc.

No, I'm saying that the collections are for ordinary fans so that they can familiarize themselves with the VALIANT Universe, while the fans that already love it don't have to get them since they already know what the stories are.

Don't forget that the hcs do have new material, the short stories.

The material is far from poor. Have you read it? It's actually really good, and very VALIANT-esque in the writing and art.

The handicapped "squee" as you call her was hardly the focus of the story, and the point of the XO story was to show us how Lydia came to become a hybrid and take over Orb.

The stories are shedding new light on the villains of the VALIANT Universe to elevate their prominence. Nothing wrong with that

I thought it was pretty good, but anyone that does have a tight budget for new material is not going to spend 25 bucks for a small new story and 6 issues they already read or own. I bought them because i like HCs myself (absloute style )
when new comics them selfs come out ill buy a LOT of the first few :thumb:

It's not a waste of time. It's character development focusing on the bad guys. That's not a bad thing. Bad guys help better define the heroes.

A hero, the saying goes, is defined by his foes. The better defined the villain is the better defined the hero is.

16 is the cheepest i have sen any of them and i bought 3 of each but, i can see collectors on limited budgets not buying it due to the fact thats like 8 issues of something else in cost for 1 issue of new material, i think new comics will sell fantasticly but the HC will sell ok and have done well but, nothing like new comics will do. :thumb:
