Complete VH1 Run Now on EBAY, GOLDS, VVSS, PREMIUMS!!!
My fellow Valiant Fans,
I have after much consideration decided to sell my complete VH1 run on Ebay. It has all of the runs, the Golds, the reds, the Premiums, as well as all of the elusive VVSS. I am also sellin a run of the Uncanny X-men, from issue 2-358, a complete Defiant run, and a complete Broadway comics run. I'm also selling a complete Witchblade, Darkness, Tomb Raider, Fathom run, as well as a complete Marvel Star Wars run. OVER 230 auctions.....
Why, you ask. A number of reasons...I was promoted into a new job that takes away a lot of my time, I have a 2 year old asthmatic daughter that has been under the weather a lot this winter, and I just plain want to do some other things...(like trying to complete my Batman run). And I'm not getting any younger.....
To all of those that I have met on the boards over the last few years, I'd like to say a hardy thanks for helping me complete the VH1 run. You guys know who you are. And to my friend Chris, (Knight), I'll talk with you shortly, because I know that when you read this email it is going to shock you.

Thanks again!!!

Wow! That's too bad you have to part with your Valiant collection. I think this may be the single biggest lot of Valiants I've ever seen in one auction. Good luck, hope you get what you need out of them.

A few comments, let me preface by wishing you the best of luck!
- Can you give us a hint as to the ballpark of the reserve?
- What are your plans should the item not meet reserve?
- I think your shipping estimate of $100 is a whole bunch low. If you are going to ship 7 20+ pound boxes priority mail, you are looking at double that (and I think that's conservative). Somewhat dependant on zip code, though. Is the $100 fixed no matter how much it really costs?

Isnt this the 2nd or even 3rd complete collection to hit ebay. Wasnt the Black Diamond collection sold on ebay? Didnt it include a copy of everybook? I think that it sold for around 2 grand right? What am I missing with this auction?
Oh and why is shipping $50 on the star wars lot, but the shipping on a FF lot of 40 books is only $8? When I think about it kinda makes sense but it sounds high to start off..

WOW...the responses and well wishes I have gotten are somewhat overwhelming. I never expected a reaction like that. Just goes to show what a great bunch of people you are.
My friend Knight and I are playing email/instant messenger tag, but I have responded to him concerning some things. It is only fair that I do the same here.
Let me state for the record....health is NOT an issue. No one is currently sick, dead or dying (thank god). My daughter has had a tough winter, but is now doing OK. So please move that out of your mind.
It is not a financial decision. There are no credit issues, divorces, or anything like that going on....LOL.
The three biggest reasons I've decided to do this are:
1) With new promotion at work comes increased responsibility. Unfortunately, I just do not have the time to spend with my collection right now. I have read every book that I have had, and have acquired every book I have ever wanted. The Valiant and X-Men collection were only 2/3 of my crown jewel. I'll tell you the other third later.
2) Because of the increased responsibility, I have had to readjust my life style. Other things are now more precious to me. I have to spend more time at work, and that has taken me away somewhat from my family. My wife has never complained, but a 2 year old rambunctious daughter can be a handful. So, the time that I have at home is spent with them...period. My wife and I have even discussed looking at purchasing a beach house...to allow me a much needed place to go to get away. Some of the funds from this auction will go to that I'm sure.
3) Finally...and this seems contradictory to #2 above, but I do want to revamp/restructure my collection somewhat. You cannot imagine the sheer joy or pleasure I had in finding the VH1 books and completing the set. Since then, I have decided to go after the other 1/3 of my crown jewel...and that's Golden Age Batman. I am currently complete from issue #98 through the present (#637), with the exception of 4 books, #107, 110, 112, 115. I also have about 30 books between issue #1 through 97. I know it will be hard, and maybe impossible if prices continue to rise, but as everyone knows out there it is the spirit of the hunt that excites. I'm not a condition freak either, every book will not be NM, but I'm going to try anyway. I'm 43 now, I guess I'll complete it before I die....LOL. Maybe I'll win the lottery. Anyway, it's worth the fight to me.
Well, I hope this explanation will set some minds at ease. Some of you will say that I'm long-winded, or may not even care. As I told Knight, I'm not going to give the books away...that's why I have the reserve. And CKB, I'd rather keep the reserve to myself right now, but suffice it to say that it is around what the last complete set sold for last April. And if they don't sell...what the hell, I'll keep them. If they do sell, well I'll be happy, and with the internet and the boards, it will be easy to complete another set if I ever want it back.
Guys, don't be sad for me. You folks are the greatest comic collectors I've ever met. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and well wishes with me.

And the only ones between 1 and 99 I have are...10 (not for long!), 11 (HA!), 23, 26, 33, 40, 44, 47, 49, 66, and 73...all in 'yeah, we're complete...but BARELY!' condition!

Watch out for the restoration, man...it's ALL over the place!

I think because they are first of thier kinds, no one to my knowledge has auctioned off those complete runs. Most bidders I assume don't know how hard/easy it is to get those books and are looking to buy a run and save time. Good luck with the valiant auctions. I'll be bidding too and high;)riptide_soccer wrote:Roughly one day, six hours left, over 325 people have viewed the auction, 41 are watching it, 10 have bid on it. Wonder how many people watching are from the boards. THIS IS FUN!!!!
Can't believe the Broadway and Defiant collections have gone so high....WOW

Man, the Defiant collection went for $263!

And Broadway collection went for $353.85!

Makes me wonder how much people would pay for certain items.

Hi Folks....
Wow, thanks for making my auctions one of the most successful I ever had...right at $7,000 in sales, AND I STILL DID NOT SELL MY VH1 COLLECTION. Now it can be told, the reserve was $2,500, the BIN was of course $3,000. Hell, I wasn't going to GIVE it away....
