Archer & Armstrong HC thoughts....
I wanted to post this here since not everyone checks the 'Announcement' forum every day.
viewtopic.php?t=22262
I think it's a great choice because Archer & Armstrong was a truly unique series that was way ahead of it's time. The new team of Shooter, Velluto and Almond would be awesome for a new ongoing!!
Michael Golden cover...
The Unity issues would have been hard to leave out... but they might be confusing for new readers. Then again the Unity chapters were designed to be enjoyable as standalone stories too...

It says it covers issues 0-6 so I assume they're in there.slym2none wrote:IMHO, I think they could leave the Unity issues out and it would be fine for the HC, but since I know the stories well, it wouldn't hurt to leave them in...
It will be interesting to find out if #'s 1 & 2 will be included in the HC..... dino? Any help here???

I'll be honest, this is a REALLY unexpected choice for the next HC. I don't know that I fully understand the logic of them choosing this book to be next when there were a lot more obvious choices to use.
That being said, I'm not disappointed, as I loved the A&A series.
Anyone else excited to see another Shooter story? I think that could mean real good things for Valiant if they managed to get him not once, but twice now.

I said this in the announcement thread, and I think this is a wise choice for VEI. My experience is that folks that remember Valiant from back in the day remember Archer & Armstrong rather fondly. I have heard more people say they would buy an Archer & Armstrong hardcover than any other series. Granted, this is not from a HUGE sample size, but it is still my experience amongst casual fans.etos45 wrote:It says it covers issues 0-6 so I assume they're in there.slym2none wrote:IMHO, I think they could leave the Unity issues out and it would be fine for the HC, but since I know the stories well, it wouldn't hurt to leave them in...

This is actually the HC I've been waiting for. I loved early A&A. As for mass appeal, it *is* BWS, which should be a big selling point. I can't wait.etos45 wrote: I'll be honest, this is a REALLY unexpected choice for the next HC. I like the new coloring process, sure there were a few pages that didn't measure up, but overall I think they've done a good job with the HC's.Unblessed wrote:The "re-mastered coloring" on the Harbinger HC really turned me off to these products. I won't say that the colouring "turned me off," but these new colours just can't hold a candle to the originals...Unblessed wrote:The "re-mastered coloring" on the Harbinger HC really turned me off to these products. I just re-read Archer & Armstrong #0.
Mahmud tells Archer that the Sect has been hunting Armstrong for 2,569 years.
Ok, so 1992 minus 2,569 is 577 B.C. (there was no year zero, so it's actually 578 B.C.)
I wonder if that will come into play in the new Jim Shooter story?
Any of these ideas on the horizon...

He was born on 3266 BC, so he turned 5000 on (-3266 + 5000 =) 1734 AD (1733 or 35 because of the lack of a year zero? Is it one up or one down? I can never tell).

With regard to the appearances of Magnus, Solar, and Turok in #1 and #2,
I would assume there are going to be approximately 200 pages in the hardcover,
with an average of 4 or 5 panels per page.
That's 800 to 1,000 panels of art.
Magnus, Solar, and Turok appear in 28 total panels.
28 out of 800 does not constitute a significant amount of the book... about 3%-4%.
I seriously doubt if VEI would need any special permissions or
any other contracts in order to reprint Archer & Armstrong #0-#6.

Aram was probably joking. Mahmud would be more likely toManofTheAtom wrote:Aram said that they've been angry with him because he didn't invite them to his 5,000th bday party, right?greg wrote:I just re-read Archer & Armstrong #0.

be telling the truth with the 2,569 year comment.
