There were 200 that I applied the hologram and embossed seal.
One was damaged and returned... so I guess you'd say it's 199. :D
Where was the embossing, I only saw the hologram on mine.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Sorry, Not a big CGC fan here. I like going to cons and shops and seeing the books i am buying, I don't need CGC to tell me that a book is NM.

As a matter of fact not one CGC book sold at the LOuisville comic con that i went too, but several X-men #94s did raw.

It's the circular embossing like the VfVSS certificates.
Should be located in the lower left corner of the litho.
(Probably easier to locate from the back.)

I'm guessing it's not because people don't WANT the CGC books....but that the CGC books were priced too high....;)

These were approved by VEI as a fan project,
and intended for public release at an early 2006 comic convention,
but were not printed in time for the event.

The artwork was originally a commission that Bob Layton
created for K_C_Collectibles (Chris Gould here on the board).
Once the ink work was finished, it became something that
Chris wanted to share with the fans.

Bob Layton recommended Ian Sokoliwski as the colorist,
and once the coloring was completed, the image had the ValiantFans logo
and other graphics incorporated into the title box at the bottom.

Though the work was done by Bob Layton and Ian Sokoliwski, both professional artists,
the actual project planning, printing, and distribution was to be handled by fans.

Valiant Entertainment had approved the plan as a fan project,
and supplied the appropriate trademark and copyright notice
for the fine print at the bottom. I believe this was the first time
that Valiant Entertainment was mentioned specifically on
a printed work, though this is still "officially" considered a fan project.

Several ValiantFans.com members were involved in the process,
and a failure by one of those members caused the whole plan to fail
at the comic convention. The lithographs weren't there, and the reason for
their absence was a fabrication by the person in charge of having them printed.

Additional instances of problems (primarily financial debts) with this member
came to light soon after the convention. Others were left to take the fall,
and the events really shook our community.

The prints were eventually delivered mid-2006, too late for the convention,
but the lithograph project which involved several other members' work,
planning, and resources was finally completed, despite the delay
and the weak link in the chain.

The lithographs went on sale via the ValiantFans.com website late-2006,
and the hologram and embossed seal were added to those lithographs
which were delivered to me. There were 200 of those, and a few were
damaged in shipping because the mailing boxes were not strong enough.
I added a thicker poster tube to the packaging to try to fix the problem.
One of the damaged lithos was returned to me and it was so badly mangled
that I threw it out... so you could say there are 199 of these.

When it became clear that the other Valiant fan projects (2004 to 2006)
were causing some supply problems because there were only 40 to 60 of each,
we discussed on the board how it would be nice to have fan projects of
a larger quantity, maybe to keep some in reserve for the future,
so that contributing members of the future would have a shot at getting them
(without paying the controversial secondary market prices).

It has not been possible, as far as I know, for the quantities of fan projects
to accommodate setting some in reserve for the future, but I did set
several of these X-O Lithographs back in 2006. Now that it's mid-2008
and the number of active members on the website has grown,
I thought it was time to offer some of the lithos at the original price
to anyone who didn't get one the first time around.

I plan to wait again before the next batch of these is released into the wild. :thumb:
