But Buddy was GREAT. The entire album is GREAT.
Yeah. had the Tech 12s, the whole deal. The biggest problem with DJing was I never got to dance with the chicas. I had to be behind the 1 and 2 the whole night. Sometimes I would put the extended remix on and go dance real quick.... but then I would be foucusing on .... well.... you know and I would not want to leave. Once I forgot.... and the music just stopped..... silence...... when everyone in the party just stops dancing and the dudes are all mad doggin you cause you ruined their game..... well that is not a good feelling.
And after the dance/party, when everyone is hooking up, I had to stay and clean up. A few times I had dudes go with me to help (mostly help with the clean up) and when it was time to pack up (carry the coffin to the truck)...... they were gone. So it would be like 12 at night..... no one around......

But I have alot of good memories from DJing. Actually compared to some of my friends I was more of a "music player". One of my homies name Will was an amazing mixer. Dude could mix ANY 2 songs.
One thing he would do...... he would have the beat playing of a very popular song at the time on #1, then when the lyrics were over he would put the extended beat (usually the back side of the record) on #2, mix the beats, seamlessly switch from #1 to #2, then as #2 was playing, he woul dtake #1 off, and put on Sanatra's My Way. Then perfectly on beat, he would turn of the beat and turn on "I did it mmmmmmmmmyyyyyyy waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy." Then at the last note ran out.... he would have the next song cued up and go.
That is soooooo much harder than it sounds, and he did it perfectly.
Actually as I think about it...... DJing was a blast.

No NO I know...It sounds hard, but very few can i appreciate how hard keeping a crowd of people into what you're doing. I never spinned but I DJ'ed back in the day, with CD's lol.Elveen wrote:dbostejano wrote:so you use to spin?Elveen wrote:I acutally liked the 12' Buddy better than the version on the album. I was always curious about records but when I started DJing records were instinct, I used to look for record shops. There's just something about finding your jam on vinyl.

I was always curious about records but when I started DJing records were instinct, I used to look for record shops. There's just something about finding your jam on vinyl.
I had about 8 crates (I think). With records you could put the sleeve in between the coffin so it would stick up and the peeps could see what you were playing. I LOVED putting on a jam or a remix that most people had not heard yet...... they would look up to see what it was.

But records were much harder to transport.
When I started DJing in like 86-87 (I think) I was in high school everyone was records. I did have a single CD player, but I hardly used it. I also had a tape player....

When I got married...... I left all of my crates at the house I was renting. Literally hundreds of dollars. And some of the '12s I could have sold for big cash. I has some that I got in little hole in the wall places that had blank labels and blank white sleves.
I remember having a 'Blank" Low Profile record of I think "Pay Ya Dues". It was different than the album track. I remember dudes offering to buy it from me right after I played it. Nope, not for sale.
And then some NWA half songs and random cursing. But that one I think did get stolen one night.
