Book Binding - A Homemade Trade Paperback question

Post by edlockman »

Every once in a while I see someone who is selling their "custom-made" hardcover of a series i.e., All-Star Squadron 1-67 in 2 Hardcover volumes.

I'd love to do that to overstock of some Valiant's I have to see how it would look. Let's face it, I liked the stories, not the value of the books. I know, I would essentially destroy the books, but I'd keep them in a bookshelf format.

Anyone know where I could find more information on how to do this? I know that Kinko's probably could, but I'm not interested in spending a bazillion dollars on hardcovering an Eternal Warrior run.

Thanks guys!

Did you hear that Dave Sim has made Cerebus public domain. Meaning anyone can reprint his work.

Are you serious? I'm having serious...serious....and this is really silly, I know....but serious issues with Cerebus being done and over with.

Yes, yes, I KNOW Cerebus isn't real, he's a fictional character...

But Dave and Ger are, and for well over 10 years, they've been a part of my life...

and now....well, hell, I'm not to proud to say I've shed a coupla tears....:(

Capitol Bindery is the way to go if you want comics bound into books.
http://www.capitolbindery.com/ Click on the David Banks-Sales Rep link.
I had the entire 61 issue output of Atlas Comics bound into 3 volumes with a slipcase - http://www.dpbanks.com/zolli.html
I was very pleased with their work.

I'm looking for low grade copies of pre-unity books - will pay $1 each plus shipping. I don't need Harbinger 1-7, Magnus 1-8, 12, shadowman 1-3, Solar 10. I guess that leaves Solar and Rai, and some Magnus.

I thought the public domain thing was only after Sim and Gerhard are dead. That's a ways off.

Just a pic from a site that shows some examples of the topic discussed above. Not mine, although I am already rounding up some comics to get bound. I love the idea!

Oh come on. It wasn't that bad of a series. Don't compare it to the Eternal Warrior you knew and loved. As an independant book, it was kind of amusing.

Good luck finding #4 the issue came out months later and the print run was closer to 2,400 copies than the 4,000 in the Edition 3 according to several sources. It's that hard to find.

Good luck finding #4. I got very very very lucky and got a whole run for a whopping $2 (for all four books). Have not seen another #4 since.

It's a good offer. I'd jump on it immediately. Of course, I love Calafiore's art.

Acclaim comics will never be worth any more than they are now. They are not part of comic history, they are merely a footnote. Nothing worth a shyte. But you know i loved vh2 bloodshot,it was so much darker and cooler, and the art was incredeble. Is sal velluto still doing black panther?
