New Valiant Price Guide

Post by PeteCole333 »

In light of all the recent sales on ebay, I'm curious to see how the online prices will be reflected here on valiantcomic's price guide.

Any idea how often Greg updates the price guide, or when we might see the next update?

He just updated it not to long ago.

I think he will wait awhile to see if the jump is a trend or if if becomes a pattern.

BTW, I'm thinking the latter.

I surely hope it's the latter. I'm going into withdrawal from not be able to afford to hoard anymore. Thankfully, people are selling a few color pages about every month so that I don't have to start shock therapy, not that there's anything wrong with that of course...

It will be interesting to see if there are Harby #1s on dealer walls for $100 at SDCC.

Right now, I would not be shocked.

I think if the dealers are watching EBay, you can downright expect it...

Got to agree with Geocarr here, where they can make a buck they will try.

I put a Harby #1 up at WWLA in March for $60...NM copy...and it didn't sell. ;)

I don't think one dealer even had a Harbinger #1 at SDCC last year.

The prices we are seeing could change that this year.

So aside from the few big books at 9.8 that were always stupid to get and the renewed interest in Harbinger #1's, what prices have risen on standard Vh1 books?

Most prices are as they were when i looked last year.

There are certainly more for sale and im sure there is a major upswing in the amount selling too, but only the usual suspects are showing crazy sales right.

Once the people who paid the crazy prices have what they want, will the next lot also go for high amounts too?

Im sure the Solar # 10 gcg 9.8 and Harbinger #1 cgc 9.8 might but what else?

:hm:

I think that all of the "keys" will go/ and have gone up. I have seen a raise in prices in pre-unity mag and Solar lots.

Obv. the Harby w/coups. lots have gone up.

I really think the key will be the relaunch of monthly books by Valiant. Also as we are waiting for the monthly comics, VEI will be releasing more HC which will bring more PR to Valiant.

I still think that as people "get back into" or start collecting Valiant, the end of the run books will become very desirable. The end of XO, Bloodshot, Turok, Solar, Magnus..... will really go up in price.

Also, the hard to find Accliam books are already pricy, when more people are trying to get complete sets......

But I will say this..... (in my mind) the general upswing/value of all Valiant books is not a sure thing. Alot will depend on new books coming out, and the books being high quality books.

If new books do not come out, Valiant will remain a niche market. (Which for me is fine) But if the new books do come out..... and they are good..... then Valiant back issue will really be in demand.

You know.... most of us dudes have a big case of "gottahaveallthebookscausethat'showIroll". I think most collectors are the same way.

But as for a few specific books that I think will really go up in price..... Bloodshot 51 and Last Stand.

There's always talk of the prices moving when monthly issues begin coming out. But, do we even know for sure that that's happening? And if so, any ideas on when? Or what they plan to do... just pick up where Valiant left off, pick up where Acclaim left off, start from scratch???

As for the second part of your quandry.......

There is just to many posts and threads that deal with it.... but the easy answer is..... no.

The current prices are still lower than a lot of these books used to go for in 2003 - 2005. I started hoarding Valiants back in 1998/1999 at the bottom and sold most of my stash during that nice run up (I can still remember getting $50 - $80 for just VF/NM Chaos Effect Omega Golds  ). Anytime a large new group of collectors jump on board we see a spike in prices, only to have them tail off once supply has met demand.

There are plenty of copies of most books to go around so you should take the same approach for Valiants as you would for GA and SA books - be patient and buy the higher value items when things cool off/a great deal is available. Most of us are in our 20s to mid 30s here so we have plenty of time to buy Valiants in the future.

speaking of the valiant price guide... can anyone else access the price guide right now? I can't get into it, and I'm not sure if it's the site, or my computer?

It's the site. It's been working off an on like that for the last couple of weeks.
