VH1 Books which should be VEI supporting characters instead
Which characters, who may have had their own books in VH1, should be used in VEI as supporting characters only, without their own books?

Best case senario for Valiant.
the first wave of news books come out. Then maybe a year later (or so) a few more new titles.
But after 4-5 years, they will need to keep expanding. So I can see a Armorines or hard Corps book. And depending how they develope the 41st century books...... maybe even a Psi-Lords book. (shocking that I am saying that)
Not a big fan of a Geomancer book. The characrter should be in many of the titles, but not his/her own.

I know..... I know.... but I am just thinking ahead.
I think the concept is solid. It's the Hard Corps in the future.... good idea. I just thought the way they presented it was..... well...... poopy.
But, at some point, believing and hoping that Valiant will be sucessful and continue for perpetuity, they will need to expand at sometime.
I picked all of the above:
Turok
-- Really though, if VEI gets Turok, I would like to see him in his own series.
Armorines
-- I'm a fan lof the HARD Corps characters. So I never cared much for the Armorines. That said, I wouldn't want either to get an ongoing.
Dr. Mirage
--I could see him emerge with his own series somewhere down the line if VEI establishes their comic book line. But not in the early going.
Archer & Armstrong (one or both)
-- I'd prefer them as supporting cast to Eternal Warriors. The same with Timewalker.
The Visitor, The Harbinger
-- Supporting cast to harbinger. Unless Pete Stanchek is not the focal poit of a new harbinger series. I want to see Pete stanchek as a major character with his own ongoing series. So this depends on what VEI does with harbinger.
Psi-Lords
-- Supporting cast to Magnus
Geomancer(s)
-- Supporting cast to Eternal Warrior unless its Clay Mchenry. Even then, as with Dr Mirage, I'd rather wait and see the comics line establish itself before branching out with an ongoing for him
Secret Weapons
-- I actually liked all the different versions of this team. So my vote on this would actually depend on which version. If its a JLA/Avengers type lineup - then I'd prefer limited series here and there. The Harbinger kids should be Harbinger supporting cast. The last version of the team should be Bloodshot supporting cast.
Or at least these would be my picks if I had a choice.

I'm not even sure Jim Shooter could make Psi Lords into a readable series....Elveen wrote: I think the concept is solid. It's the Hard Corps in the future.... good idea. I just thought the way they presented it was..... well...... poopy.

Archer & Armstrong is the strongest of the bunch but because BWS set the bar so high with his run it's going to be tough to make a solid series that lives up to the original. I've said it before, Bob Hall is the only person who handled these characters the right way after Barry was gone.
Secret Weapons could be cool but not with the last group we saw.
Some others on the list have potential that has not been reached. Dr. Mirage was a solid book with Layton and Chang, once they left if quickly fell off. Timewalker is a great concept that did not make a good monthly but it could. Geomancer also could be good but I would focus more on telling important stories set throughout history rather than follow one character.
Psi Lords just sucked and the Visitor is dead. Harbinger is a supporting character.
Armorines could make a cool mini series but I don't see it as a strong monthly book.

Archer and Armstrong Should be a Main Title
All of those should be supporting; although I don't think they can do Turok, right?
But A&A should definately be its own book - you could have an Eternal Warriors book that covered he 3 brothers and Archer as a compromise...

Re: Archer and Armstrong Should be a Main Title
I think VEI is working on trying to get the GK characters back in the Valiant fold, but for now nothing is being said about how the deal is coming along.spindustry wrote:All of those should be supporting; although I don't think they can do Turok, right?

Turok-The problem with Turok is the fact without the Lost Land/Valley the
character is basically useless in the present day. Besides how many
time lost warriors does a universe really need?
Armorines-Like the HardCORPs the concept of this series really should be limited to the occasional mini-series or one-shot.
Dr. Mirage-I could see Dr. Mirage as a character that would have to be
reintroduced in another series (i.e. Shadowman) and then given a mini-series to see how well the character does on his own.
Archer & Armstrong and Timewalker-The only time A&A was cool when BWS was the writer/artist on it. Combine Archer & Armstrong, Timewalker and The Eternal Warrior into one book and have the
time traveling adventures of the Immortals.
The Visitor-He should be a supporting character (or a possible villain) in
Harbinger
The Harbinger-see above
Psi-Lords-I think bringing PSI-Lords in any way is a mistake.
Geomancer-The occasional one-shot or mini-series is OK but this concept worked much better in the background.
Secret Weapons-I do think that the Valiant Universe needs to a JLA or Avengers type team up book but I don't think it's something that
needs to be done all of the time. I think when the various big guns of the
Valiant Universe get together it should be for a MAJOR event only.
