Two out of the eight "free comics" I got I discovered were art teasers books from Marvel, the type that are normally available beside the register for free on any given day at my LSC. My dad's one free comic at his LCS ended up being a a FCBD comic from 2005.
Was that ACME, Todd? They usually have all the titles and let people get one of each.
It's listed in the FCBD set that I picked up, so I would say yes.sanman wrote:A buddy in New Orleans had to pick one up for me as not every LCS around here is into Heroclix.1st Among Equals wrote:Did everyone get the Iron Man Heroclix?
What I'm looking for is the WORLDS OF ASPEN #3—did it actually come out?

No, I live in Winston-Salem now (30+ minutes from ACME) and so I went to my LCS here. My Dad went to Hot Comics in Asheboro.Tim Petty wrote:Todd Luck wrote: B) Both retailers put in non-free book day stuff in with the free comic selection and counted them towards their limit of free books. Hastings (local regional books/movies/music chain) all seemed to be cleaned out on our second sweep at about 6 pm.Richv1 wrote:Yep the day after they never have anything left. When its free it does go fast.
The LCS in Lubbock still had a jillion books on Sunday and they had a bunch of them at a comic show.

I had a pretty epic FCBD. I drove around with 4 or 5 other guys (we picked up some folks throughout the day), and we hit up 5 shops all throughout the bay area, including Flying Color Comics, who's owner essentially invented Free Comic Book Day.
I got tons of free comics, and tons of other comics as well. I bought at least one comic at every store we went to.
We capped off the day by seeing Iron Man (awesome).

I went by NOVA Comics in Springfield, VA today to pick up some more Drawer Boxes and they had a pretty good bit of FCBD stuff left over. They had a table with a couple dozen different books (various quantities of each) laid out. I only got books that interested me instead of one of everything. Two GI Joe digest books (looks like it reprints old Marvel stuff), Transformers Animated for my son (he's been reading it all night - finally maybe I can kindle and interest in comic books in him), and I don't remember what else right now.

i think he is lying to you. i really dont beleive that he has to pay regular price for these books.
this is a excellent oppurtunity for comic shops to bring in new customers. i dont see why they wouldnt want to take part in this. i know that in my shop they always make out very well. not sure how everyone else does it. but you have to buy something in the store in order to get one free comic. then later on in the week if there are still some left. (there always is quite a bit) you can have whatever you want.
It was reported that Gold Sponsor books cost the dealer a quarter and Silver Sponsor books cost a little more. Owly cost the dealer 0.50 each. Shipping is extra but dealers always pay for shipping for their monthlies.

Squirrel, I went by NOVA on my lunch break today and picked up 2 copies each of these FCBD books:
Marvel Adventures: Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man
Tiny Titans
E.C. Comics Sampler
Kid Houdini And the Silver Dollar Misfits
I didn't see the "Comic Book Diner" you mentioned.
They had some other free books out that didn't have the FCBD logo on them so I don't know if they were part of that or were just added by the store. But I picked up a couple copies each:
GI Joe Comics Magazine #1 (digest size, reprints #1-2)
GI Joe Comics Magazine #2 (digest size, reprints #3-5)
These two have a cover price of $0.00 and "NOT FOR RESALE" printed under the bar code:
Avengers Invaders sketchbook (Marvel/Dynamite Entertainment)
Iron Man/Hulk Sampler
Squirrel, PM your address to me and I'll try to get your books in the mail by the end of the week.
