Solar #2 10.0 (Mint) Question

Post by Xero »

I stumbled onto a copy of this comic, supposedly in the 10.0 condition. I don't doubt that it's worth the $7.50 that they're asking for it, but would it be worth buying just to have it slabbed? Never had a CGC book, and what better comic for a first than a VALIANT comic? Plus that cover's pretty sweet.

If it's really in 10.0 condition... which is hard to believe... then, yes.

I'd buy it and slab it.

yeah, I was thinking, at worst it'd be a 9, at best a 9.8, so if it's like a 9.4 would it still be worth it? Or heck if it's 9.0 or better?

My opinion... if it's a 9.6, you'll break even on a sale. 9.8 or above and it's profitable.

I think that is a good price for that book in a high grade.

After the new books come out...... you might think that you got a deal on the book.

If a seller claims that a book is in 10 condition,
but that same seller doesn't get it slabbed himself,
the seller is lying, knows he's lying, and hopes someone
will believe his lie so he can profit from his lie.

The book might be 9.8, but that's not 10.
In fact, CGC 9.8 is probably 25 times cheaper than a true CGC 10 for Solar #2.

No one who profits from comic book sales is willingly
leaving so much profit on the table if it was really a 10.

That would be like Pizza Hut having a "buy one pizza, get 25 pizzas free" sale.

:P

I saw that same book on an online comic book store and didn't pull the trigger. Make me regret it :D

Hey, those baked pastas aren't bad!

But a Solar 10, even at 9.0 or so for $7.50 ... I would hit that.

According to the title of this thread, it's a Solar #2. :gossip:

That's quite the huge swing between 9 and 9.8... :o

Nah. There was a pizza place in Fayetteville, Arkansas that is known for having
"buy one get two free".

It was universally known that you would "pay for it later" in the bathroom.

I'd be very afraid that "buy one, get 25 free" means...
"Take it... we don't want it... it's making us sick... we overbought... the expiration date was last week."

:D

well, I guess I just really wanted to know how much it costs to get an issue CGC Graded?

the Solar #2 comes from a large store, like lone star or mile high

But I did find a Solar #1 10.0 for $15 from a store that I've used to buy a few oldies, such as Thor #127, and T.O.S. #57, and their grading has been spot on.

but yeah, I was weary of the whole "investment grade" gimick, it doesn't make sence to sale something for the same price it'd take to have it slabbed and jack it's price up $25-$50

I dare say it would be worth a bit more than that.
