Next VEI Hardcover

Post by ManofTheAtom »

Based on the number of new colored images available at the Wiki, I think that the next HC will be Rai, and not Shadowman.

Check this out

Rai

http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... Chein-Lung
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... _Isao_Seko
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ragon_Form
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... randmother
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... /Host_body
(bears to note that this recolored image is from Magnus #5 :hm: )
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... t_movement
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... /Ice_Spike
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... yo_Nakadai
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ko_Minashi
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... r_Globules
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... p/Nerveweb
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ro_Nakadai (ignore the one with Mother Nike, that's not a new one)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... it_weapons
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ao_Konishi
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... hi_Nakadai (just the one with the baby is new)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ture_Force
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ru_Nakadai
(this one is from Unity, btw)

17 images that come from the flipbooks and first seven issues of the series.

Shadowman

http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... Clemenceau (just the one with the bio, not the one with glasses)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ue_Zombies (this one's from Dr. Mirage, btw. Does it count? :hm: )
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wiki/index.php/Elya (this one is, obviously, from Unity :hm: )
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... k_and_Welt (is this one is from Dr. Mirage or from the Mirage's apperance in Shadowman? I forget. I think it's from DM #1, so it probably doesn't count)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... k_Boniface
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... mma_Nettie
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... of_Shadows
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... ter_Darque (the first one is from Eternal Warrior, the second one from Shadowman #12 I think)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... _Creatures ( I think this is from Dr Mirage as well)
http://www.valiantentertainment.com/wik ... Rai_Darque

10 images, most of which come from comics other than Shadowman and Post Unity issues.

Only Jack, Nettie, and the mask of shadows are from the Pre Unity issues.

Looks like there's been more work done on the Rai flipbook and series issues than in Shadowman, so maybe that one's next (?)

I could get behind a Rai hardcover. Those first 8 issues were awesome, but I wonder how they would collect those with those two pesky Unity issues in there. Would they go 1-5 and 8, or just collect 1-8?

When they do the single Rai hc, it will probably be 1 through 5, but first they have to do the one with Magnus and the flipbooks.

Yeah, I remembered about the flipbooks right after I posted that message. Invasion kicked some major *SQUEE* and I'd dig a nice HC presentation! :thumb:

Given what Jeff said about the talks between VEI and Golden about reprints, hopefully it means that VEI is aware of the importance in reprinting Magnus first.

I would like to think they're reprint Magnus, but I honestly don't think that'll happen. I wonder if it would be possible to reprint the Magnus/Rai flipbook stories in with Rai 1-5? Would it be too confusing to read the Magnus half (or is the Magnus half even necessary?). I'll be honest, I haven't read the flipbooks in a long, long time so I don't remember how they went.

It is necessary, without it you only get half the story.

Not only is Magnus necessary, but so is Solar, who appears in the Rai flipbook as well.

I think the next book will be Eternal Warrior.

Or Shadowman.

I don't think we are gonna see Rai or anything with a lot of the Gold Key characters until a licensing agreement can be worked out

Yeah... that's what I figured. I remembered it being somewhat connected on both sides, but sometimes my memory fails me.

I don't think having the characters in there would be the problem (Solar is in both the Harbinger and X-O hardcovers), I just wasn't sure how it would work since this would be a Rai hardcover but it'd be reprinting some Magnus comics. I don't see it so much being a copyright issue as just an "If we did a Magnus hardcover, now we'd have to exclude such-and-such issues" issue.

I have faith, though, that whatever VEI does... it'll work out great.

I doubt we'll see an EW or A&A collection until after they collect Unity.

The next book is going to be dedicated entirely to Zephyr's Adventures (yes, HER.)

I mean, come ON. Faith SCREAMS "REPRINT ME!!!!"

Oh, and the 8 page backup story will be written and drawn by yours truly.

Duh.

Based on what I saw of your remark of the Ninjak gold, that is not a selling point. :)
