Unity issues price back in the day

Post by Knob »

What was the highest that regular Unity books ever sold for back at the craziest height of Valiant back issue prices?

I'm not talking about any variants or special editions, just the regular A&A 1-2, EW 1-2, Shadowman 4-5, Harbinger 8-9, etc?

Looking at the print runs they are obviously much higher than pre Unity, but they aren't near the top either. As I said in "My Valiant Story" I was a hater back in the day so I never noticed haha.

During the high point Harbinger #8-9 were selling for $10

EW #1 was also in the $12-15 range and about the same for A&A #1

EW #2 & A&A #2 the most I remember seeing them for was $8-10.

I remember seeing some of the "free" Unity #0 issues at a comic convention for 10 bucks shortly after they came out.

I paid $20 for Unity #1 once upon a time. Not too long ago, I got six copies of Unity #1 platinum for $10. My, how times have changed.

The most valuable Unity book of all time was Archer & Armstrong #2, because it was the second appearance of Turok. However, that wasn't until about early 1993, when the Turok title was almost out and Magnus #12 became a $100 book.

A&A #2 became a $25 book.

Earlier, the most valuable books were Harbinger #8 and 9, and EW #1, all in the $20 range.

I was about to post about A & A 2, but ZWH beat me to it. However, in my head it was a $12-15 book (back then, obviously). $25?!?! Yow! But yes, it peaked as Magnus 12 did.

I tend to remember a $5-$15 range depending on the issue. I bought mine when first published--the standard Unity #0 and Archer & Armstrong #2 stand out the most.
