Can UNITY HC happen?!!
Just what the topic says. Do you guy think cause of all characters that are used, can a UNITY HC happen? I know there might be some problem with rights issues.

Not according to what Gomez said on the Newsarama article.cjv wrote:From what I understand, reprinting existing material they own is fine. It's making new material with the characters they don't own that is a problem.

They need approval to reprint the GK3, is how I interpret that. Anyone else?Asked about the status of the Gold Key characters? That is “a separate deal, and some efforts have been made,” Gomez said. The Gold Key characters are now owned by Classic Media, he informed everyone, and told the audience that Valiant submitted a request to increase efforts for Valiant and Classic Media to work together. He was unsure if that cooperation will ultimately involve only reprinting old material or creating new stories.

I was working on what I called "Unity Redux." I was editing scanned copies of all the Unity tie-ins to rearrange the story into one volume told in chronological order. It was coming along pretty nicely (I thought) until my hard drive died and I lost everything (including a couple year's worth of personal digital pictures).Fanboy375 wrote:Wasn't someone working on a unity HC for a fan project?
But I kept the hard drive, and now know a digital forensics guy at my current job and he's been able to recover the data from my drive. In fact, he just told me today. I'm going to bring a drive in an external enclosure tomorrow and he's going to copy everything over. So hopefully, I can begin work on it again! But I have no set plans for what happens after I'm done. I'd love to turn it into some kind of fan project, but would only do it with VEI's approval.

Cool idea. I've been contemplating something similar for RAI #0, to include all the tales that touched on that.Heath wrote:I was working on what I called "Unity Redux." I was editing scanned copies of all the Unity tie-ins to rearrange the story into one volume told in chronological order.
Glad you got your data back, too!

Maybe they can only reprint material where the GK characters appear in a cameo and aren't the MAIN characters, the title characters?

I wouldn't take that as a negative, per say. I think any good business man would try NOT to leak information. No news may simply mean it is under discussion.Daniel Jackson wrote:As reluctant as VEI has been to even mention anything about the GK characters, I would imagine it will be quite awhile before we see a Unity HC.

I don't know how long it normally takes to work out deals like these, but surely the current owners of the GK characters could have given a yes or no by now.cjv wrote:I wouldn't take that as a negative, per say. If VEI were to do an Unity hardcover I think that they should do hardcover collections on Pre-Unity runs of Solar: Man of the Atom, Magnus Robot Fighter, Rai, and Shadowman first.
Then do an Unity hardcover (VEI should throw in Archer & Armstrong #0 and Unity: The Lost Chapter #1 as bonus features or something to the effect), omnibus, over sized hardcover or whatever.

i'd spend $$$
If there is a single book I'd spend $100 on it would be a Unity HC, if they did it all in one book I hope they'd ad some gutter space though.
I wouldn't care if they broke it into two or three volumes though. It would be sweet to tack Rai #0 on at the end too.

recoloring unity
Reading through Unity again I think recoloring it all together will make an awesome story even better.
You read the third book A&A 1 that has some great BWS pencils then you're taken to Magnus #15 that has a completely different style. I don't dislike the Ernie Colon character art or even the coloring on the characters, but the backgrounds and the lack of outlined text bubbles just really kill the flow. The coloring just gives it a rushed unfinished look. I still like Unity but having it all collected together with consistent modern coloring would be AWESOME.
