Don't say things like that David. You will shatter Zeph's illusions of you.

He has a shrine you know.

I went to my regular shop here in Vegas and no luck

There is one guy who has a ton of everything (except F.E.A.R agent) so I'm gonna try him probably this weekend.

All this hunting is making me even more interested in reading this book!

I read both issues last night. I want to start by saying that I usually dont read books like YL, but it was a good read with alot of things said and done that I hadnt expected. :o It was a good read and I love the art! I think this series would be a great read as a trade. :D was this series written to ward being a series of trades? I have officially added YL to by pull list and look forward to reading more.

I cant wait to mail issue #1 off to to be signed, thanks DL and keep up the great work.

No, we are at Winnetka and Sherman Way about 1 mile north of the Winnetka 101 exit.

Oh yes, we've had this conversation before I think...... :hm:

I'm not sure if I've ever been in your store....do you have much in the way of back issues?

Luckily, though, I have House of Secrets just a couple blocks away (on the same street even!) from my house, so I'm covered.... :thumb:

Glad you could join us.

We met at the London comic fair you attended in the early nineties, which brings back some great memories.

Everyone was very impressed with you, from the punters to the stall holders.

It was great to sit around with you as the show was slowing down and chat in general. I remember it feeling very informal and it made my day and several of my other friends who were also stall holders.

:thumb: :thumb:
I remember that show. It was a good trip. When the Plasm cards came out, right? I remember one guy asking me to do a caricature of him, which I'm really bad at, but he had facial hair, glasses, and a military cap, if I remember right, so it made it easy.

I also remember the butter and milk were soooo good, the fried eggs were scary as all get out, and it stayed light until, like 10:30 at night.

I'm guessing a stall holder is one who runs a table at the con, not the one who holds the door closed in the restroom. But what is a punter?

EWWWWW !!!

Punter = customer.

Glad you enjoyed it dude.

If you ever want to hit the UK again PM me and well put you up.

Were an hour from London.

I've had a hard time finding any copies of #1 or #2 but was finally able to find them both yesterday.

Shop owner was happy that both issues sold out and said he was going to be ordering more.

local shop had no #1 and only one #2, so instead I'm going to order it from an online retailer. I imagine the local shop probably didn't order many as they seem to mainly focus on subscription services. Every time I go there and ask for a book they don't have, they try to recruit me for their sub service.

Sad to say but thats why a book like YL needs all the help it can get.
Comic shop owners are afraid to have a book that wont sell and take up space in the back issues, so they rarely order lots of a book that doesnt fit the traditional mold (ie Marvel/DC).

The reason they want the subscription is they want to be assured that if they order that one book, it will sell.

Once a book has a following or a decent sized readership, they may consider buying more. Here's hoping the books sell out from Diamond, so DC/Vertigo can put out one of those press releases stating Young Liars #1 has sold out.

The more likely scenario is that the first trade is released and it sells huge to the waiting for a trade folks. At that point DC considers the monthly a loss leader, and keeps the series going strictly due to the sheer number of trades sold.

It's one of the reasons I think Dino and Co. plan with the HC is smart business, it allows for a longer shelf life and can reach people who dont frequent an LCS.

Looks like I'm going to be sketching this weekend.

Checked the P.O. box and I just got my first SASE in the mail, As the name won't match the alias here, I won't say who, but they did a nice job. The comic came in a priority mail envelope and inside was the comic bagged and boarded and also one of those cardboard flat rate priority mail envelopes filled in with address and return address (nice!). Picture perfect.

All I have to do is sketch, sign, seal the envelope, light a match and burn the whole thing to a crisp. Easy as pie!

Just read issues #1 and 2 of Young Liars and have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of art and writing.

Definitely adding this to my monthly pull list. And I'm looking forward to issue #3.

You definitely have the support of the fans now lets hope you get the same from DC.

Well done David. :thumb:

Well after going to a couple of other shops in the area and not finding issues 1 or 2 I just bought them off of eBay!

I am dying to read this story after all of the talk about it and all of the searching I have been doing for it! :thumb:
