Hi all
just wanted to share any experience ... I got a magnus 12 graded 9.4 but was not satified because i though it was a 9.6. Well low and behold, at the convention where they did one day grading, it came back a 9.4.....any one else have any experience with this?

Are you saying you had CGC grade it and it was 9.4 and then had them grade it again and they gave it the same grade?

Well, there's this one guy named ryostar who talks a lot about some company that keeps changing its name, but he's given it a pretty bad name, what with all the personal attacks . . . Contact the site administrator Greg, he'll be able to give you the low-down better than I can.

Are you looking for another company so that you can get a higher grade? I think that the word on the street about cgg is that they are tougher on moderns than cgc so you might not want to go with them...Ryostar might could give you some details about getting a cgg to...ummm..boost your score or maybe over look a few things...you might want to pm him.. :thumb:

Have you called CGC to get the graders' notes?

I don't know if they keep detailed notes for modern books in NM,
since there's not much to tell, but it's possible that they have some notes
that could explain what they saw condition-wise. 1-877-NM-COMIC

Last time I tried to check the grader's note on a 9.4 unity red the official response we that they don't keep notes on modern graded books in nm or higher. Still, it's worth a shot.

I read on the CGC boards the graders' notes will be online soon.

that will be nice...plus it will make it a lot easier to make more informed choices about graded books over the internet when scans might not be able to tgell the whole story.. :thumb:

For sure it is a step in the right direction. This is why I have to like cgc...sure they make mistakes(taking grader's notes off the label), but they will often fix it and make it better when they see that it is a problem.. :thumb: :thumb:

Woosuh, did you also check the pages inside the book? Even tho the cover could be immaculate for a 9.6, there could be some defects within the pages that can knock it down to 9.4. There is one other grading service, I think was called 3PG or something where they grossly overgrade books. Some dealer showed me an X-Men 94 graded VF+ by these guys and the book was so bent out of shape that it looks more like a VG/F. Even the dealer was laughing and agreed that he can't really sell the book as a VF+.

Escaflown, has anyone told you that your current avatar is almost as disturbing as people with multiple screen names and a political agenda?

Back on topic, yeah, I've gotten back books that I thought should have graded higher. It's about an equal ratio to the books I thought wouldn't grade out as high as they did. The more I looked at both, the more I learned about grading (at least in a CGC-type manner.) Seriously, if a book has a flaw, hand it to a prospective buyer and they'll find it for you. I know I can find minute flaws on a high $ book, esp. when I'm thinking of ponying up the cash for it.

So what's wrong with taking a copy of Action Comics #1 and using it to light up a cigar? :D
