Quantum & Woody
I've just started reading a load of Acclaim stuff (those comics came back Draco, their in great condition. All individually bagged as well) and Quantum & Woody is excellent. Really amusing stuff. Soo I thought I'd look up what else Priest (the writer) had got upto and there was quite alot. Can anyone advise any of his other stuff?
Also when I looked he hadn't seemed to work since 2005. Seems quite odd for a pretty successful writer, anyone know what hes up to these days?

I believe he's a minister now and on a comics "sabbatical".
I'd recommend his VH-2 Solar mini (but read Ellis's & Kreuger's one-shots 1st, if you can).
His Black Panther was absolutely amazing. Some of the best-written, most-intricate "mainstream" comics I've ever seen. Well worth tracking 'em down.

It's been a while since I read that interview with him so my recollection could be off, but I don't recall any indication that he was even aware at that time that there was a conflict between VEI and VIP. Is it possible that he wasn't even aware of the full situation, assumed that VIP did have the rights, and was just stating a willingness to work with them as opposed to actively supporting VIP over VEI?rodneyrodis wrote:I love Quantum and Woody. I hope VEI reprints this stuff and releases new issues. Last I heard of Priest, he was backing VIP before the lawsuit settled.
Quantum & Woody was, without a doubt, the best thing ever published under the Acclaim banner. Hopefully, they can find a way to bring it back.

I'd recommend his *Acclaim (1997 series)* Solar mini (but read Ellis's & Kreuger's one-shots 1st, if you can).

Couldnt agree more dude.
Ian google him and dip in old son.
I think pretty much anything he has done IMO is worth paying out for.
I have him in my top ten writers.
As a pair, him and priest are top boys.

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

I imagine they will find a use for most of the Acclaim characters. I don't think they spent all of that money at the auction just to sit on the rights.Elveen wrote:Every Q&W books I have read I have enjoyed.
Very clever writing.
VEI will have to bring them back somehow. Way to good of a book to not bring back.

Yeah, but for most things, I prefer it in trades. This included.Brent wrote:The run can be found cheap on ebay thoDr. Solar wrote:And also not available in trade paperbacksBrent wrote:Dr. Solar wrote:I keep hearing that his run on Black Panther is very good. The entire run is brilliant
I am really REALLY trying to get rid of all floppies in my life other than collection/investment books.
I hope they eventually re-trade the entire run, not just the first 12 issues, who's trades are now out of print.

I wonder how they will do it?

Oh yeah - because, let me tell ya... I LOVED reading one issue's worth of comic, spread out into three separate comics, just so it fits into the 3- and 6-issue story arc format..... I will say, this was one of the reasons I quit buying new comics two years back, and to see that it's still the standard does nothing to sway me into coming back.Dr. Solar wrote:I choose life.slym2none wrote:Death to Marvel's TPB program! Easy! They'll just use the Goat's power to make everything hunky-dory by inviting the Legion Of Super-Heroes to a big party!!!Elveen wrote:Daniel Jackson wrote:I imagine they will find a use for most of the Acclaim characters. So your problem is with the story telling conventions, not the format..?slym2none wrote:Oh yeah - because, let me tell ya...
