My New Universe Website

Post by StarBrand »

Hey guys,
Most of you probably don't realize I've got a New Universe website located at www.newuniversecomics.com. I've got an interview lined up with one of the New Universe creators that should be posting to the site soon. He promises both controversy and humor in his responses. I don't have the interview back yet, as he said he's going to be rather long-winded. Oh, shucks. Some of it will definately be Jim Shooter related, as he's already expressed a few things regarding Shooter to me and what his feeling are toward him.
Also, I try my best to keep up with news on newuniversal and all things New Universe related. Hope a few of you will check it out.
Thanks.

I wrote a review for newuniversecomics.com so it's worth it just to check it out if only to mock my meager writing skills.

I'd like to thank StarBrand for getting me so interested in the New Universe. I now have a complete reading set and am working my way through the books. The post-Pitt books are really weaving together to form a unique universe. I'm reading them in release order and I am enjoying a really great story of a world falling apart because of a disaster caused by one arrogant man.

Looks good, but I couldn't find cover scans of all the comics. Did I miss them or have you just not done that?

I'm pretty sure they are not there. That could be something to be added. Do you have to have any special permission to have a comic cover gallery?

I haven't added a cover gallery yet. I'm hoping to at some point.
Hopefully, Marvel will find my site to be something positive for them as it relates to stirring up a bit of interest in newuniversal or anything else regarding The New Universe they may publish. If they ever requested me to shut the site down, I would without hesitation, of course.

Benefits realized Since Starting My New U Site

Post by StarBrand »

I think what I'm most pleased about since starting the site is having discovered, with your help, Brother J, that there was a new Merc lined up to replace Mark Hazzard, and this new Merc had already appeared in the New Universe some 7 or 8 times. I even have his first appearance denoted in the New Universe price guide.
Another bit of info I discovered since starting the site was that Marvel's character 'Speedball' was originally created for The New Universe, according to an interview with Jim Shooter that was emailed to me by a comics fan who's been keeping up with the site.
At one point I lamented in writing on the site of not having one of the promo bags with New U characters on them given out by stores to place customers' comics in in the mid-eighties. Someone out there read my lamentation and sent me one of the bags.
I'm now looking forward to receiving back my first interview done for the site. The interview is with one of the original writers of The New U. I expect some insights in the interview into the early climate of how things were for the creators at The New Universe.
All in all, it's been a pretty fun experience so far. :thumb:

Oh yeah, I forgot about Marvel and their stupid stance on using their images.

I would hope they would realize my site may be helping them a bit and isn't hurting them at all, but who knows??

Awesome! I love the New Universe as well and have been trying to get any of those issues back that I used to own so long ago. Glad to find a site dedicated to the other great Jim Shooter Universe. VERY glad to finally hear some news that New Universal isn't dead. It's been forever and nobody anwhere seems to know anything about it. Not to mention that it's impossible to find anything about it on Marvel's website. :!:

Consider that site bookmarked, and I look forward to reading that interview when you get it Starbrand.

Janet 'JayJay' Jackson Interview For The New U Site!

Post by StarBrand »

Just heard back from legendary Valiant colorist JayJay Jackson regarding an interview for my New U site. She says she'll do it. I just sent off the questions. I'll post here when I get the responses. :thumb:
Yes, she did some coloring work for The New Universe. Check out the price guide page on the site for info on which New Universe issues she worked on.

I've known JayJay for years... one of the best people I have ever met. And it beats me how I didnt have a mega hangover after the last time we went out in NYC... those 'zombie drinks' sure made me FEEL like I was a zombie after the third one. WHEW !!!

Just got the interview back from JayJay! Very gracious of her. She answered every question. Two questions were specifically about The New Universe. Most of the others tied into the other 'Shooter Universes.' One question was 'What was it like to work with Jim Shooter?'
Again, I'm very grateful she took the time to do the interview for my New U site. I'll be posting it in the next day or two at the site, which once again is at www.newuniversecomics.com.

Once in awhile I might get ten or fifteen messages on my board in one day and it seems a bit overwhelming to me. I've absolutely no idea how you do it. :hm:
