What bad things have you let happen to your comics/tpbs?

Nothing drastic like y'all, but:
1) My mom getting angry at me back in middle school, pulling a random handful of comics from the drawer, & burning them in the tub. Note: Some of the books had been in bags so long the oxygen had leached out of the pages (or something) & they were essentially fireproof. This made her even angrier. (nothing important lost)
2) Came home from one college break to discover my framed copy of Daredevil # 1, which had been hanging above my bookcase, was gone. It was a decent copy but for a one-inch chunk out of the bottom middle cover, but it's the principle of the thing. That room had become the "guest room" while I was at school, so one of the guests now enjoys the book.
3) Reading Astonishing X-Men # 2 on the subway platform in DC last fall, only to have some massive drops leak from a pipe above onto the book. Half the covers now wavy from water damage. Just frustrating.

this has to top everyones.... Well maybe.... I left my girlfriend of a year relationship after finally saying enough is enough after she was accusing me of cheating (which I wasnt, I was working two jobs to pay for the damn rent as she didnt work....sigh, and to pay for my comic habit hehe) ) Anyways I told her I was out of here and she said to be moved out before she came back, so I called my parents and they brought over a van to help me with all the boxes of comics(duh!) and we took off with my passion and I had to keep the books in the two vans for a few days. Needless to say one of the van's sun roof was not sealed too well and that week I moved out of the ex's house , it RAINED!!!
So one full box of comics , the Astro city, Hulk collection was rained on. I still remeber the day and relive the day whenever it rains. rained for 3 weeks this year.... the horror, and pain....

Mike's Comic Hut...still there? in Flushing? hell no dude
However, you made me laugh when I read that, I use to drive from LI to that place from time to time. I believe I only remember the larger place around mid 80's about 2 miles or so from Main Street.
I distinctly also remember buying what looked like a SUPER HG copy of Amazing Spider-Man# 129 for $10.00 back in 1985 from "Mike's"
Unfortunately 15yrs later, when I submitted that book to this new grading company called CGC
it came back a Fine 6.0 with a notation on the label reading...Water stain throughout entire book
..say what???? never saw it obviously, but did when it returned
Don't think I haven't wondered if CGC themselves spilled stuff on it and blamed it on poor ol' me
anyway, small world indeed my man...

It was at a newstand next to the "El" (elevated train line) at Lefferts Blvd. & Liberty Ave. where I picked up my copy of Fantastic Four #110 with the GREEN cover. There were at least 5 newstands between Lefferts Blvd. & 125th St., where I bought 99.9% of my early Marvels. The first collection I bought was from a guy a few years older than me who started collecting Marvels in 1964. In 1969, I bought his whole collection---each issue for cover price. Just reminesing....

Talk about bad things happening and see what happens I keep my comics at my Grandmothers safely away from my children. So I go down today and head into the room where they are and low and behold there is a 3 inch circle of Water on some of my lwb's half on 1 half on another. The one's with my primary colection even (1 solar rai shadowman 2 harbinger HC magnus ninjak) I was frantic thinking some had got ruined but it was just on the boxes
Needles to say they were moved to the other side of the room and I spent 2 hours patching roof. Good thing I didn't wait till Thursday to go
