I was shooting for this year but does not look like that is happening. Maybe next year.

Still up in the air this year but not likely. Saving for a decent car.

Been gone from the boards for a while but if you didn't jump on this getting something close is allready pretty much gone.

The servers for the planning companey used to book the hotels were down pretty much right at the start...the closest I could get is three miles away...

San Diego Bound

I just made my reservation at the Town and Country using Comi-Con's website.

http://towncountry2-px.trvlclick.com/

One second there were rooms for all the nights I wanted to stay except one, but the next second it opened up and I took it.

I also ordered my badge. Now I just have to get the plane ticket.

Is there a list of creators that will be there?
From last year

I like the fourth name on that list, heh.

What are the prerequisite's for being an "Attending Professional" ?? That's a pretty big list . . .

Last year I got my badge through Platinum Studios, to whom I sold a concept for a graphic novel a few years ago (the project has since been terminated at Platinum and set up elsewhere).

This year, unless they contact me again, I'm going as a regular.

It's possible, from the Con's website, however, that anyone can sign up as a professional from what I've seen. I don't know if they ask for anything to back it up, though.

Did you have to show proof ?? and did it give you any perks ??

They didn't ask me for any.

As for the perks... it was a really confusing thing.

First day I got in line like everyone else, when then one of the volunteers came up to me, saw the badge and told me "you don't need to be in line, you can go right in".

After confirming what this one volunteer told me with others, I got approval to go inside from one of the people that work at the center (an old man in a navy uniform), so I went inside.

I was inside the exhibit hall for two hours before the convention opened, during which I helped out a retailer to open his stand in exchange for three free comics (one of which was Rai #0).

Shortly before the doors opened, I was asked to leave by the volunteers, threatened to have my badge revoked if I didn't go (that was weird, btw), so I left and followed the people as they came inside up to the second floor to get in line for the exhibit hall... but soon as I reached the second floor I broke off and got in line for a panel.

Throughout the con, the only real perk was being able to access a rest area for professionals only.

The second day I asked someone what line I should get into, the general line or another one they had set up that claimed to be for professionals only. They told me to get in the second, so I got in the second and stayed there for an hr or so when, sudddenly, someone told me that I was in the wrong line and I had to get in the general line.

I was like "that's what I wanted, but they told me to get in this one, so now if I get in the other one I won't be in the place I would have been an hr ago". Sometime later one of the people in charge of the volunteers let me get in the other line at the front of the line to make up for the volunteer's mistake.

The third day I was determined to just get into the general line and avoid any of the previous day's hassles. While walking toward the end of the line I ran across a guy with a VALIANT t-shirt, a member of this board (comikxguy@sbcglobal.net) and got in line with him (thanks btw, if you're watching!).

The fourth day I got in the general line, which was pretty dead by then.

So, the perks turned out to be more hassle then they were worth, lol

The first day I got two hrs alone in the exhibit hall but risked loosing my badge (just for the simple fact of being there after I was told that I could go inside), and the second day I lost an hr or more in the wrong line, again, because someone told me to be there.

I wonder if they post the "rules" so you could know one way or the other . . It would be nice to get like a "Press pass" . . .

Press passes are more powerful than the professional pass... while exhibitor passes are even more powerful.

I call dibs on representing VALIANTFans.com at the VALIANT panel in San Diego to report what happens so I can get a press pass :thumb:

Will there be an X-O t-shirt this year, like last year's Harbinger t-shirt?

Well I can say that I won't be there this year for sure. I am saving for a car. I really doubt I will make it next year as well. I will be saving for another big purchase. So anyways, hopefully in 2010 I can make it. One of these years. :thumb:
