There are two spots where Armorines and XO cross-over. Im going to take a closer look and see if these two XO books should be added to the Armorines list...

If I did ad them, the list would look like this:

0, XO 25,1,2,3,4,5, XO33,6,7,8,9,10,11,12

Id like all of your input as well..
I like where you are going with that. What about expanding it a bit further for completions sake though? How about this:

0, XO 25, HARD Corps 17, HC 18, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, XO 33, HC 23, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

I'm thinking that would be the definitive Armorines collection. (Not counting the VH2 stuff myself. Not interested in it.) What do the rest of you think? Of course then we would need a couple more copies of those issues for a Chaos Effect book as well...
Im going to take a look at these.. I think it would be fine to add these, especially if the books isnt going over one volume..

Ill read through them tonight :thumb:

Cool. I looked at them and thought about adding the Harbinger one from Chaos Effect as well, but the only Armorines stuff in it is duplicated in one of the other books that's already listed.

I definitely liked adding the 2 HC books in after XO 25 because in Armorines # 1 during/after the briefing they specifically say that they have had two bad missions so far (against Aric and then against the HARD Corps) so far and they have to have a success this time or risk getting funding pulled. So I thought it appropriate to include their battle against the Psi-borgs in there as well.

And yes, size wise it isn't making the volume too big to fit in a single book still, so other than more duplicates to get, I think it's more complete story that way. Looking forward to your opinion after reading through it though.

Two months, 4 issues and a real "serial" feeling. I liked some apsects of what VALIANT did with this, but I also think that while it was cool as heck to tie the books together, not to mention extremely logical and exciting, it is also part of why the books eventually fizzled. People didn't like having to buy both series and the immediate followup stories in Magnus were dreadful. Indeed, only the Geomancer Quest was any good, post-Malev. At least Rai had the training scenes, Bad Penny and what I reffer to with affection as "old man Rai". But, to keep this post more on task, I think that yes, you should put the Rai books in there. In fact, it might even be wiser to stop Magnus around 24 and have everything Rai from 9-23 or 24 and Magnus 25-38 or 29, combined. It's the way the stories originally flowed and how they should be read, imo.
I agree. I just recently purchased the rai crossovers for the Maleve war. I think it makes it for a smoother read when putting together a bound set.

So what would the ideal reading map be for the Maleev War
Magnus 21-24, Rai 9, MAgnus 25, Rai 10?
I've wondered about these two series as well. The story would definately flow better having both the Magnus and Rai issues back and forth as it seems to be written, but then you have alot more issues together and need duplicates of both series for the entire Malev War. Not sure how well it would map out for each of them though. Don't have time to pull 'em all out and check right now though.

Armorines

I looked at issue one and saw the comment about the 2 bad missions.. good call on including these.

Also, issue 7 is a wrap around cover. The back cover should be flipped around tot he front so they open up for the reader to see.. :thumb:

Wouldnt this story also need Harbinger 34 to include all 4 issues from that Chaos Effect Week?

So thats it for Ninjak? That will make it one monster book like A&A.

Hmm.. Are there any more appearances that should be noted on the dust jacket? Any major necessary cross overs?

I looked through the Harby #34 and it didn't show anything Armorines-wise that wasn't covered in the other books (XO and HC) already. Therefore it didn't seem really needed to me. In fact, there was alot of stuff in that issue that really didn't need to be added I thought. To each his own though.

That makes sense then to skip it, I couldnt recall, I read all of chaos effect in one sitting and it was kind of a fever dream toward the end.

I agree :thumb:
It's nice bouncing opinions off of everyone whos checking this out.

H.A.R.D Corps Map
1-18, Harbinger 30, 19, Harbinger 31, 20-30

Also for my RAI books
I was thinking
Book 1:
Magnus 5-8
As the flip books contain RAI 1-4(cut in half and flipped like EW/A&A 26)
RAI 1-8,
RAI 0,
RAI Companion

Book 2:
Rai 9-15, Magnus 30, 16, Magnus 31, 17-21, Magnus 37, 23-33

As much as I would like to intermix my Rai and Magnus for the Maleev war. It might prove too complex so I only included the books that were parts of a storyline ie battle for southam and the last day.

Much better :)

Should any Rai books be optionally added to Magnus?

Or would that be way to much for the Magnus books?

Actually its funny you mention that, I decided to re-map my magnus books as those or Bloodshot will be my first Valiant books bound.

I changed it to
Book 1:
0-25

Book 2:
26-29, RAI 15, 30, RAI 16, 31-37, RAI 22, 38-48

Book 3:
49-64, YB, Original Mag, Vintage Mag 1-4, Predator/Magnus 1,2, Magnus/Nexus 1,2.

That way each volume is 26 books exactly. You have the crossovers with RAI and it breaks pretty nicely; I feel that 25 is a good stopping point, 48 is the last issue before birthquake, and putting all Original/Vintage/crossover stuff in the last volume just seems better than putting it as filler in the rest of the books.

Ian, can you switch the color in the first post from Cyan to something a little darker? I can hardly read it on the screen. :( Not that I care as much about the VH2-3 stuff, but others do and the eyestrain to read that color is a little much. :thumb:

I am looking at a VH2 Ninjak book
Ninjak 1-12 but are there any other ninjak appearances in VH2

I know of Adventure Zone 2 Green but aside from that and the one panel joke appearence in Quantum and Woody would those issues be it?

So, those are the most important of the Rai books in the Magnus series. Do those extra books that you put in the last bound edition not belong in continuity any where else?

But story wise I would put them between magnus 42 and 43.
